I'm still so happy!!!!! It's taken me ages to wade through all these pages, but I don't care! I'm just so excited still!
I got to re-watch the show online with better picture and sound, and this time I wasn't so distracted by my own reaction, so I could really pay attention to Danielle's. How awesome was that? She just seemed so overwhelmed, shocked, and giddy all at the same time! And that little speech she gave was just so gracious. She has such maturity for one so young. It was a joy to watch her getting all swept up in the emotion of the song at the end, and her giggling in the balloon, and just enjoying the whole experience. She is just so real, and it's awesome!
Anyway, so it looks like lots of people are going to the show opening night. I will have to see what I can do. I had a UK trip planned for October, but it looks like that's fallen through now so I'm hoping I can just push it off until March so I can go to the show with the rest of the Mafia. I can't book tickets yet, though. I have to still figure out if this is doable, but I sure hope it is. I really, really, really want to see it now!
Oh, and about Danielle's going third on the show, that's what I was hoping for. Three out of the four winners (Connie, Lee and now Danielle) have gone third. It's the best place to be really, because you can make the most impression on the viewers.
As for 76 Trombones, I think Monkseal is going to have fun with that one. That to me was the ultimate proof of the existence of the "blindfolded dart-throwing song-choice monkey", but Danielle nailed the song anyway! That's a way to make lemonade out of lemons! It was so gutsy and funny and awesome!
I think she really won the show, though, in the second half. With all due respect to Sophie, who was in excellent voice, Danielle just dominated the second part of the show. Although Sophie sang very well, I thought her acting limitations and nerves were evident and her energy level was lacking. Danielle, however, was just on fire. Everything she did was just amazing.
I was watching the OTRs on the webcam and my Welsh friend Gaby and I were typing on the Skype chat as we watched. Right after Danielle's OTR, I typed "Danielle wins", and Gaby (who is a Sophie fan along with her family) typed back "my Dad just said the same". Then later when Danielle did "Mambo" again, Gaby typed "she's won". They were sure she had won at that point, and so was I, even though I was still a bit nervous and they were still kind of hoping Sophie would still win. After Danielle was declared the winner, though, Gaby was very gracious and said that Danielle deserved to win. I thanked her and her family profusely for voting for Danielle for me (I could hear them making the calls!

) and for letting me watch with them. It was so much fun.
Well done to Sophie, too, for handling defeat so well. She actually looked like she expected it, but she was so mature and reacted so well. I still think the best thing for her is to go get more training, but she is a really talented girl and a class act as a person. Good job to her!
It's been such a fun weekend, and now I can relax a little bit and just enjoy this now without having to worry about how it all turns out. The Great British public have picked the right Dorothy, and I really hope I will get to see her in the show. Now I need to go see if I can find a site that will let me download her single!
