Okay I've heard all three. They're all the best OTRs of the whole show without a doubt. Lauren sounds a little like Amy, except more polished. Danielle's is my favourite by a good way but Sophie's and Lauren' are very good. Lauren's is faultless, maybe a bit too mature sounding. I have no doubt she would be amazing in something else.

Oh and
Spoiler
I much prefer Danielle singing Merry Old Land of Oz

Just listened to the Radio 2 clips and Danielle's version of OTR was lovely! Very much looking forward to watching the final.

Ooh I was just thinking... maybe they won't do a "goodbye" for 3rd place because "you ditched her so completely" won't fit... That's why they're letting us hear all OTRs.

I think you may be right because Andrew said that we wont get to hear two of them, so the one we will hear will be the winners (in the actual show next year or they may sing it when they win) right?

That's a bit unfair. So the voting audience, who may not have heard BBC today, have to vote not knowing how they sing OTR?

At least we got to hear all As Long As He Needs Me's during I'd Do Anything.

It could fit in it they looked then nodded down the camera at the audience, because they will be the ones ditching this time.

Surely the last 2 will have to both sing this song so the wider audience can compare them

Maybe it just for this charity cd or whatever, that only the winners version will go on it.

I think Andrew meant that because all three recorded the full studio version, it will be a shame that we won't be able to hear two of them as only the winner's version gets released. Which was why they played clips for all three.

Just listened to all the girls' versions of Over the Rainbow, and I was very impressed. If I was basing my vote on just the voices, I wouldn't know who to pick! They all sound great I do love how you can really hear Danielle acting the lyrics simply through her voice though. That's proper leading lady stuff.

Yeah, the winner will get their version released as a charity single on monday.
Hopefully it's Danielle's one

I just listened to the OTR versions, and OK I'll be biased and say I thought Danielle's was the best. Why should that be wrong on an appreciation thread?

Anyway, to be more specific, I liked all three of them, but I did prefer Danielle's because of the acting. The other two were also excellent, though. Sophie's was sweet and girlish, and Lauren's was probably the most vocally powerful, but Danielle had me with the acting. I could hear the wistful emotion in her voice, and she also sounded really good.

I think the fans of each of the girls like their favorite for different reasons, and as you could hear the distinctive qualities of each girl in her version of OTR, I am not surprised that most fans prefer their girl's version, because they are all so distinctively "them".

I'm really getting nervous now. I hope Danielle wins on Saturday, but no matter what happens she will have a great career, as will the other two.

Oh that makes sense then! Thanks. Ahh I doubt it'll be released in the Republic of Ireland though. Actually I know it won't but it's okay, I have her version on my iPod.

I really love how Danielle sings the first word. "Somewhere". It's so mesmerising.

Slightly off-topic, but is it just me who can't stand that song?! It's overblown and unpleasant to my ears, whoever sings it (unless someone can point me in the direction of a toned down, subtle and melodic version).

Back on topic, I would hope at least the final two girls get to sing SOTR before the lines close, but I understand that didn't happen with the aforementioned ALAHNM in I'd Do Anything?

I liked Jessie's version. It was softer but I hate when people go OTT with it and Jodie's version did nothing for me. In general, I am sick of it.

Personally I liked Connie's version the best except maybe the last couple notes, they were a bit sore on the ears at high volume. Wasnt overly keen on the IDA versions (although havent seen that much of them) because i didnt like the cockney accents, a tad overdone for my liking and it just seemed a bit of a mess.

Thanks for the tips - must go and check out Jessie's and Connie's versions. I think it's probably the 'cock-er-nee' accent which makes it worse - I remember going to see Oliver last year and thinking that if I was Bill Sykes I might commit murder if my missus subjected me to that caterwauling racket. (no offence to the performer involved - I think it was Tamsin Carroll who was otherwise excellent).
