By the way, I just listened to all three versions and I got goosebumps when I heard Danielles, it was perfect (and I am a very straight, footy loving, not that outwardly emotional bloke !) She delays the last 'I' just a micro second longer than the others and it just seems to work better.

Yes, my favorite "As Long As He Needs Me" on an ALW show was actually Connie's version on the Maria final. She didn't do it "Nancy"-style with the cockney and everything. It was a more measured, building emotional version and I thought it was Connie's best performance on the whole series, and that includes the amazing "Shout". Here's Connie's version:

Anyway, to stay on topic and link this to Danielle, I've been wondering recently why, of all the ALW series, I've been particularly drawn to Connie and Danielle as performers above all the others. It's confused me a bit, since they are both so incredibly different. I have realized, though, that there is an important similarity--they both act their songs all the way through, and emphasize the meaning of the lyrics. That is much more important to me than just sounding pretty or belting the roof off the place. It's about character in the voice, interpretation of lyrics, and also vocal tone more than pure power.

I'm really nervous this time, though, because I've got the strongest favorite since the Maria show, but there was really no pressure for me watching Maria because I watched it after it was over and already knew Connie had won. It made it a lot easier to watch the final. This weekend, while I'm excited that I will actually be able to watch it live (via webcam with my Welsh friend), I will probably be a nervous wreck! I really hope Danielle wins. I really think she deserves it.

Hey everyone!!! How you all doing? Ive been doing all I can again to get everyone to get Danielle to win, she can do this!! Her version of OTR is absolutely amaaaazing, note perfect and you cantell that she sings every word of it with 100% emotion and you can imagine her acting it out in that speciall Danielle way! Love it, I'm so excited for Saturday we're like a big family on here haha!! DAN4DOT!!

And yes the whole competition has been very bad for studying, I tell myself I'll be less obsessed after the finale but really I doubt it!

I loved all the versions of OTR but I was glad Danielle made it seem a little bit softer and more reflective. All the girls have belted it out so far, as they should do of course because it's their big moment, but in the context of the show I think this could be a nicer approach. I could imagine her up there singing it definitely.

It made me laugh when they kept going on about keeping it totally fair and impartial and then, when I was listening to the medley, I was thinking 'I'm sure Lauren gets to sing more of this last bit than the others'!

I thought Danielle sang her bit beautifully, and much better than in the live show (although she sang a different part then).

I think Danielle's version of OTR is definitely the best. Lauren is way too shouty on the 'that's wheeeeere youuuu'll fiiiiind meee!!' part. Both Danielle and Sophie sing that part much lighter and are streets ahead. Sophie's is a fairly sweet version but Danielle sounds more like she means what she's singing.
