Just wanted to repost my favourite bits of the Telegraph article from earlier:
Quote:
“The three finalists, Lauren Samuels, Danielle Hope and Sophie Evans, have all charmed and dazzled audiences (over five million of us last week) during the past few weeks, although the rejected girls have excelled as well. Particular past highlights include quirky Jessica Robinson’s feisty yet heart-rending take on Cabaret, Bronte Barbe’s poignant Over the Rainbow swansong, and every slick, perfectly choreographed group number. Though topping them all were Samuels and Hope’s vying doppelgängers in their adorable rendition of Popular from Wicked in last Saturday’s semi-final. “I think you should write a musical for just those two,” cooed judge Charlotte Church afterwards to Lloyd Webber, and her words didn’t feel like hyperbole. ”
Quote:
“Lloyd Webber’s got two outstanding performers on Saturday’s final, Samuels and Hope (the third, the pretty Evans, is not quite of their calibre). Both are so good they make Connie Fisher look as if she was auditioning for a pantomime. Both are perhaps too good: Hope is too truthful an actress to make eyes at the camera; Samuels acts pain even better than she does joy (the second a more commercial quality). With the public, not the rather more discerning Lloyd Webber, crowning the winner, Evans may yet win it on sheer sweetness alone. But the other two needn’t fear: their real talent will carry them to stardom none the less.”
Oh, and just because I'm feeling in a Wicked mood after rewatching Popular, I just wanted to say Hi to some of the unwelcome lurkers on this thread who obviously have trouble comprehending words like "appreciation", "hypocritical", "rude" and "bitch" <waves to those who know who they are>
