Following on from the previous thread, just had a look at the V5C/2 and it says "taxation class = disabled.

What does this mean? and can I get it changed back to regular use when I go to the post office to tax it?

Thanks

I haven't read the thread you're refering to but as a guess you have an ex motability car or one owned by a disabled person. Yes if you take the v5 to the post office they will send it off with a change of use, back to private with the taxation class.

to answer your question, you have to send the log book back to dvla at swansea. this is so the dvla can change the tax class back to private. i am a disabled driver so i know that this is true. same as if i buy a new car from anywhere i have send the log book back so that i can tax the car. hope that helps you

I don't have the logbook yet, just the strip that the new owner gets.

Will I be able to tax it before the logbook is sent back? God this is getting more and more complicated lol

You can do all this at your DVLA area office (change class and tax car). I know - I did it with my current car which was previously taxed as "disabled". You will have a few forms to fill in, but the people there are really helpful. Either take the entire V5C ("log book") if you have it, or just the New Keeper part. You'll need the MOT certificate and your insurance of course.

You can't do this change at the Post Office I'm afraid.

You can find your nearest DVLA Area Office here;

Yes, they will give you your tax disc there and then! Of course you have to give them some money first.

In my experience, they tend to be busiest first thing and around lunchtime (12.30-2.00), so try to avoid those periods if you can.
