Rory is fantastic i mean Eleven,Amy and Rory are an amazing trio!! loved the last two episodes wit them andnjope he stays on for a while! to the end of this series anyway

but i LOVE Captain Jack!! he is the eye candy that never dies :P lol, also i think he brings that darker humour with im too which i loved in Utopia and i got a nice spark when all the companions returned in StolenEarth/Journey's End!!
I want Jack to return in the future of the series when he has finished on Desperate Housewives filming for season 6 which is now i believe! so i want to see jack for series 6 of DW would be another great trio or quartet (depending on what happens by the end of this series) maybe for a two part storyline (or 6!) as i am missing Torchwood so much!!! i am missing my Barrowman fix!! haha. but i can imagine there being a good chemistry to bring out with them, would be nice to have some lirting too haha!!

also as Steven Moffatt brought Jack into the series it would be great to bring him in again for DW

Ian Chesterton. I loved the original companions.

I am enjoying Rory too, and I love Jack.

The Brig, excellent comic foil
Mickey (once I grew to like him) excellent comic foil
Cpt Jack

And finally Wilf, just the sheer presence of Bernad Cribbens was a joy to watch. As a grown man I've probably lost count of the times my bottom lip has wobbled at his performances. A masterstroke/genius example of casting. Only he could get away with blowing another man a kiss and mean it as a genuine and believable form of affection...oh dear my bottom lips starting to go...

Err.. that's it, I'm more of a female companion fan.

Absolutely have to agree with you about Bernard Cribbins. His portryal of Wilf in Tennant's last episode when he realised he was responsible for the Tenth's Doctor's death and all the subsequent scenes were brilliant. It seems right that after starring in the movies in the 60's that he should come back into Doctor Who proper. I'd like to think he might make a reappearance one day but I doubt it.

I also agree that female companions are vastly more interesting!

Jack, simply because I've only seen new who companions, and I prefer him to Mickey.

Maybe there should be a poll for this thread to clearly answer as to who's favourite.

Following Daveyboy7472's suggestion I have requested a poll for this thread.

I've only seen EEE-YAN in one story (I think) - The Aztecs, which I loved, and in which he was totally awesome.

I love Turlough though, LOVE him. He was one of my very first crushes. I think it was the short shorts in Planet of Shorts. Also I liked that he was a bit dark and creepy to start with and the nice bumbling Doctor just smiled and let him in the Tardis while Turlough was trying to smash his head in with a rock...

I also really liked Jamie, in the stories I've seen. And the Brigadier was just awesome. Of the modern ones, Captain Jack is fun, and Rory seems ok so far. I really liked Mickey. Well, he grew on me - he seemed such an idiot at first, but by the end he was just adorable and lovely.

If were using a loose term for a companion surely Jackson Lake should be included, not that it matters though as I very much doubt anyone would vote for him anyway.

Currently I would say -

1. Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart - Such a great character,
2. Rory Williams - In TEH I just though he was going to be a third wheel but now he's joined the Tardis I really like him.
3. Ian Chesterton - Original Tardis Team rules.

and a special shout out to Wilfred Mott.

I prefer Female companions though.

Started a thread on female companions if you're interested. Will also add I think The Brig is one of the best male companions after Ian. he's unique in that he's a sort of semi-, semi-regular and I am hoping he might make a small appearance in the new series one day!

I was really excited when I heard Bernard Cribbins was appearing in Doctor Who as he is a childhood hero of mine. Unfortunately I don't rate most of the stories he is in, and found the emotional stuff so shockingly sentimental that by the End of Time I wanted to slap Wilf.

Good point, I forgot about him, but then I'm not a fan of that particular Christmas special. However, I always thought that he would have made a very good regular companion.

How many times did you watch TEOT before you decided that?! Lol!

I think he was okay. He did the comedy quite well ,as well as the sentimental stuff though.

I didn't pay much attention to it on first viewing, maybe rolled my eyes a couple of times. But after all the schmultz between Donna and Wilf in the Sontaran two parter (one of my favourites of series 4 btw), I'd come to expect it. As I said, I switched off after 20 minutes on last viewing TEOT, so didn't get far enough to have my stomach turned by Wilf's blubbing.

I think it was June Whitfield's 'Minnie the Menace' line that made me turn off. That's about 20 minutes in isn't it?
