Some other person paid my Orange Bill what should i do?

In April I checked my online account with Orange and saw i was in Credit by some £40 so i called Orange and they told me that a Payment had been made by Credit Card and i told them it was not me or anyone i know so they said they would try to track the payment and call me back which they did and told me that they could not find out who it was as it was the 1st time the credit card was used with them.
Orange Told me that whoever paid it may have got a number wrong in there orange account number.

So I have got my May Bill and its only £6.50 as the other payment has gone of it so do i just pay what they are asking £6.50 or what?

I know they may never track the person who paid the bill but dont want to get into trouble with them over it even if i have told them about it a few weeks ago.

Any Advice please.

If it was me I'd carry on as normal. You've pointed out the mistake so let them sort it out.

At the worst it could catch up with you and you might need to pay up then if it does.

I would agree with Bally.

It might be worth writing to them clearing explaining exaclty what has happened but sending two letters, one to them and one to yourself but keep the one to yourself un-opened. It will be post dated so it proves you sent it and that way they can't come back to you and claim you didn't try to make them aware of it.

Sending a letter to yourself doesn't prove you also sent one to Orange. I agree that writing to Orange is the best thing to do, but send it by Recorded Delivery and keep the proof of signature and Certificate of Posting.

Now that I think about it you're right. I think I am thinking of copyright? Can't you do something similar to prove that you own the copyright to something such as a script?

Its a bit of an urban myth. The idea would be that it establishes a date before which you created the work inside the envelope. However, it only proves that the envelope existed on that date. Not what was inside it.
