Help needed to set up Home Cinema!
Hi, I bought an LG Home Cinema System complete with dvd the other day, and I need to contect it to the Sky +HD box - can anyone help me?! I might sound a bit thick, but I've connected the Scart lead from the DVD to my TV, but it's on a different channel to the sky. I have a toshiba tv and it's connected to the sky via a HDMI cable. Thanks.

It may well be that what you want to do is not possible depending on your home cinema inputs but post the model up and somebody will either be able to help you or tell you it's not possible. |

In order to enjoy surround sound from those Sky channels that provide it you need a digital audio connection between Sky box and Home Cinema system. In fact to get any sound from the Sky box you need some form of audio interconnection between Sky and Home Cinema.
So it all depends on what if any audio inputs are available on the Home Cinema system. The trouble is with a lot of these all in one things is that they don't really let you connect very much and often nothing at all in the way of external equipment to them. As bobcar says the model number would help if you can't work out what connections the LG has. |

OK I've downloaded the manual for this system. It only has a pair of analogue audio inputs on the back or a mini jack on the front.
So what you need is a cable to plug into the phono sockets on the back of the LG to run to the Sky box. I don't know if the Sky box has analogue audio outputs on phonos, many of them do. If it has then plug in there and on the remote press the Input button to bring up the AUX input. One thing you can try before that however is to press the Input button to get TV AUDIO. That will take whatever audio signal is coming back down the SCART lead. So you can use the LG when watching normal telly programmes. If you are lucky it also feeds the Sky audio back down as well when watching Sky. Or there may be a setting in the telly to enable that. |
