What i find annoying about this no task killer thing is that if someone wants to look at my phone they can see everything ive been up to as the last thing i did with each app will load up. Not ideal at all. Its a bit annoying going into the manage app settings to close it esspecially if you only use the app for 2 mins. Hopefully a dev will bring a widget out that can bring the "Force close" button onto the homescreen although that might be tough if each force close app does different things depending on the app. I opened the calculator today after not using it for a month and the figures i had then were still up on the screen. Very weird since the phone is turned off every day.

What ACU makes sense, I have got all capable apps on teh SD card. Next time I try to update an app I'll double check if it's on the SD card and if so I'll try one that's on the SD card and then try moving one back to the phone and see what happens.

I'm quite happy using a Task Killer, I don't like apps running that have no reason to be unless I'm using them, I have had no ill effect since using ATK so I think I will stick with it, however, if you can now use Manage Apps to kill them then I may very well give that a shot and see how it goes.

Thanks for the quick reply.”

I still can't get it to work. I've tried moving all my apps to the phone, tried downloading one at a time, switching it off and on several times and enabling / disabling synch and even tried updating through 3g which didn't work.

I've gone into manage apps and deleted the cache and other information so as to start from scratch - didn't work either.

Gonna try taking the battery out for a bit but failing that I'll leave it until tomorrow...see if something magically starts to work then.

Actually that was somethig else I was going to mention. Before 2.2 when you killed say Internet it was killed but now when you kill it, it remembers exactly what you were doing, the website you were on etc and I just don't like that, not one bit. I agree with you RED_ on that one.

If your worried about your browser history, use Doplhon HD, when you exit the app, a box comes up with options to clear data and cookies.

Remember even if you kill apps, a long press on the 'home' key will display the last eights apps run.

History wise I'm alright as I erase my user history on a regular basis, not that I am bothered if people see what I'm surfing. I only ever use here google and soccermanager plus facebook on my phone.

It just bothers me that since 2.2 whereas before it you killed Internet and it was killed, post-2.2 killing Internet does nothing now as when you load up Internet it goes right back to the page you were last looking at. I've not found a way around it yet, and from reading various android sites it's been noticed by others.

I have an question I've been meaning to ask, stupid as it is.

I want to get an application that will allow me to chat, mainly to Facebook contacts but perhaps WLM as well. What I'm not sure about is, do you have to sign up for an account with the company who makes the app, say meebo or ebuddy or similar or can you sign in with your existing account details for say Facebook or WLM?

I use ebuddy for chatting to people and I have my fb and MSN contacts on there but..... it doesn't seem to show everyone who is online which is really annoying as I had no probs with ebuddy on my old phone.

Its weird because, for example, when I know my other half is on facebook, if I log onto ebuddy it tells me that he's offline.

He can see me online and can chat to me - as soon as he chats to me he appears as online but then disappears again literally 5 seconds later - not even enough time for me to repsond!!

I really don't get why - I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but its still the same!

Its quite annoying tbh!

I have started to notice a very annoying thing happening with my Desire. This isn't the first time it's happened but initially when it first occurred I thought nothing of it.

When writing a text where there are multiple texts back and forth the screen jumps back to the top or in some cases halfway up the screen. It forces me to drag it back down as there is no other way to get back to the bottom.

Anyone else had this happen? Is there a way to stop it because it's really irritating. I have to hide the keyboard then drag the screen all the way back down and some conversations are hundreds of texts long. (others are just a handful of texts)

Thought I'd just jump in here and ask a question.

I accidentally managed to delete the clock and weather thing off my home page - where is it in the phone? Because I want it back. Or do others have better options for that space?

The one that shows the clock & weather on the same widget is found in the 'Clock' option.

OK a problem I found today, well just now really.

Just checked my internet usage and it's using my allowance up at an alarming rate. Ok I've been hammering it, but I've now noticed that the little arrows on top of the screen are lighting up (implying internet usage) even when I'm not using anything.
And yes, its eating into my allowance.

I've downloaded a task killer, I've uninstalled the stuff I've downloaded today. But it's still doing it. I've also stopped auto sync and anything else I can think of.

Can anyone help?

Although unchecked after updating to 2.2 when it was released my Facebook contacts synced to my phone something I did not want as I have ended up with the duplicate contacts and I don't want ANY of them on my phone. I have not been able to find an option to delete these Facebook contacts despite looking all over the phone.

I googled it and found a few people suggesting the easiest solution was to make sure sync was not selected and then remove the Facebook account and then readd the account. Is this really the only solution? I've got 46 (not a lot in the grand scheme of things I know) Facebook contacts listed under "Phone" and "People" despite as I say only having told the phone to display Phone contacts I have checked over and over to make sure that it isn't set to show Facebook contacts.

Couple of things you should be able to do.

Link these Facebook contacts to your phone contacts where appropriate.

In people, press menu and then view. You can then untick Facebook to hide these contacts.

Again in people, press menu and delete. You can then go through your contact list marking which contacts you don't want and then press delete and they will be gone.

One of the problems I've got goomba is that there are a number of Facebook contacts who are listed under Phone that I don't actually have as a contact in my phone so linking them is not possible.

Those ones are especially hard to delete as there simply isn't an option to get rid of them. It's like they aren't really there.

I'll give your other points a try but as I mentioned under Menu>View>Facebook that is already unticked so anything else I try around that isn't likely to work, surely?

ETA: Followed what you said and that's what I'd already tried but to no avail. Those steps simply don't work. The only thing ticked is Phone, those are the only contacts ticked to show up. I can't delete any Facebook contacts by doing what was said.
