the thing that separates everything is that each performer has a different audience, the people that should ciriticise are the fans themselves.

i mean i read that Elton John criticised Madonna lip synching when she used a vocoder microphone for Vogue and Nobody Knows Me and the rest of the Re-Invention tour was totally live...i mean if it wasn't live i dont think she'd dare perform it, which is another reason why i love her so much really! if she aint confident with how to perform it CHOP! wished i'd seen her Confessions Tour Live though in 2006 but so glad i saw Sticky And Sweet, i mean her uptempo songs and her ballads were all live!
also when she suffered throat problems on her Asian leg of her Blond Ambition tour in 1990 and continued live a few days after recovery and added dates on!

sometimes haters just try to find what they can against legendary performers through spite or jealousy or for whatever reason, yet when other don't or do perform live vocals they imply they cannot sing or they should do more or why are they in the business etc.etc.etc. i am just so sick of it!!

their fans see them for different reasons entirely, i mean Michael Jackson i am sure may have relied a lot on backing vocals..but who cares he is The King Of Pop and many see him for the spectacle element and may he RIP. but if he did perform there may be critics then too!

at the end of the day it's the show that matters, and i personally would prefer to see Britney strut herself with all the flare and gusto than Take That anyday! live or not.
P!nk and Alicia Keys also have more limited and stripped down sets for their tours.
P!nk did a trapeze act but that was all in terms of airbound stunts really, beautiful yes and very ambitious but the rest was a lot of her strutting around too, no one criticises that (i like her though)

Rihanna does so much, i saw her Radio One performance and she is amazing!! yet some criticise and comment...oh! she can't sing a note! and whatever. it's just so boring to have those comments, she had the energy, presence and sheer elegance with her live sets and had so much creativity in her projection to the crowds.
besides, i'd rather RiRi over Bey or Gaga anyday live! as she has that surrealty and confidence that is so appealing to me more so than some others.

at the end of the day, everyone has their own preferences and choices and if they don't like it then it AINT FOR YOU!!
this year i am going to see Christina Aguilera's tour i hope when her tickets go out! and expect something truely out there and the rest is extra! also going to save up for Madge's next world tour to and would love to see a Florence concert or if Rihanna comes back to the UK go and see her too!
would have loved to see a 'Stones concert too

everyone has a different key purpose for each fanbase, i mean Whitney has come under scrutiny for her live singing not being what it use to be!! how rediculous, i mean i am not a fan as such but seriously!! i wouldnt expect them to be 1988 or 1994 standard after all she's been through in true honestly!!

some people.”

Again i agree, its up to the fans if they care if Britney mimes.

Look at this video it gives me chills the crowd sing with britney there not moaning or complaining.

i mean when i saw britney for the 1st time i nearly collapsed i was crying with excitement and singing along

I think people get affronted by Britney's miming not because they're "haters", but because someone with her level of performance experience, and presumably coaching, from a very young age, ought to be able to pull it off.

Musical theatre performers manage to dance and sing at the same time, and many other musicians manage energetic and technical performances on instruments while singing at the same time.

again it is all valid, but also this was her first tour across the globe when she had her life broadcasted to the world every minute of everyday, it's a LOT to do when you have had such a breakdown...and a well publicised one at that. i mean i was surprised she wanted to do a tour that early, her albums are great and i thopugh small promo's at least but s full on tour was amazing!! she has that presence and status with her shows that many her age need to work harder for!

theatrical experience comes over time i think, of course Madonna was in an indie band before hand so gained experience from that in clubs in Emmy and Breakfast Club before taking full control.
Michael was from a young age on so many live shows that he adapted to it.
Britney has a great voice it's just she needed it all so suddenly, she'll get it back she always does, she is a legend for what she has done if i am honest!

Britney has been performing since she was seven or so years old, apparently. I don't think that counts as "needing her voice suddenly".

i was on about the Circus Tour as i mentioned previously in my post, that she needed to promote everything so suddenly that she vocally wasn't ready as such! but she gave great presence and is magic.
her vocals at 7-10 years old are fantastic!! i mean she went on Star Seach and was fabulous!! i want more acoustic live set by Britney, she has done it with success before! she can do it again for sure

yeah i think tbh the Circus tour/ era was just a stepping ladder to get her back where she belongs i mean she had such a horrible few years, she has always loved music and she loves touring. The new era will be immense i can feel it :P I mean Britney wernt straight NO.1 in America with '3' with no promo whatsoever, and her tour was one the most successful of 2009, people when you go to a britney concert us fans dont care if she mimes its NEVER bothered me and yes i would say i saw her LIVE cause being in her presence was just amazing and the tour was amazing.

thats how i felt, it's the presence and just sheer excitement of her being in front of you, i got that twice over though with Brit and Madge =D i mean that was just all so brilliant i felt so privileged to see one of my idols and an artist i have grown up with!both S&S and Circus tours were great!!and also different from one another because both bring a different experience, Madonna has always been elaborate and theatrically artistic while Britney has had the colourful flare and different levels of outrageous campness and surreal yet stunning choreography.

Well that depends on the singer.

for example Im a big Britney fan and have paid and will pay again the future to see her live. I know that when i paid i wasnt getting live vocals but a brilliant show which she puts on, she stage/outift/themes are always great and thats what i pay for, entertainment.

if i wanted good vocals and a concert i would go to Alicia keys or Christina Aguilera.

at the end of the day its not anyones place to question why someone would spend money on a certain artist's concerts.
