If she hadn't attempted it - ie if she had sung the last two notes the same, as it is usually done - the whole performance would probably have been a triumph for her. Aside from the fact that she didn't pull it off (the last note, that is), I am of the opinion, which I have expressed here before in relation to L Lewis and M Carey, that just because you can, that doesn't mean you should. In other words, even if you can hit those ridiculously high notes that only dogs can hear, if it doesn't sound good - and it doesn't - why do it? In short, going for that high note was ambitious, but it wasn't a good idea, and it may have spoiled Lauren's chances of winning. Still, she will do OK out of this, of that I have no doubt.
