3 and a half million votes were cast tonight based on the figures GH said had been raised for the BBC Academy.

That's a hell of a lot of people voting, even if some voted twice.

So around a million people are wrong

Exactly!! I was happy with the final 2 as I couldn't bear Lauren! If I had to choose it would have been Danielle, but they were both great.

I don't think she'll make a good Dorothy, I agree with others, she wasn't the best singer, nor the best dancer, nor even the funniest contestant, which Andrew stressed again tonight he wanted. She has a very hard expression too. Still I could be wrong, but I won't be going to see her, even though I don't live that far from London and even though she comes from where I was born and brought up, many years ago.”

Okay, you're disappointed your favourite didn't win, but it's utter rubbish to play the old 'you were all manipulated' card, as well as insulting to Danielle's supporters. I'm a grown-up and make my own decisions, thank you very much.

I suggest you take a leaf out of Sophie and Lauren's book, and try to be as gracious and mature as they have been tonight.

These were my two favourites, I think they were great and both would do justice to the role. Danielle just edged it for me as a better all round performer, but I am sure Sophie will get opportunities. I was so pleased that Sophie was able to get this far, I always thought she had the talent and the voice, but up until the last couple of weeks her nerves got in the way. Hopefully now she will be flying high.

I wish good luck to all the other contestants.

give her a chance!!! bit harsh to say she's bad already when she hasn't even had the chance to perform in the actual musical

None of the girls were perfect, but Danielle has almost a year to rehearse the role so the finished article will be fine.

I think she'll do the role justice and I certainly don't feel like I made "the wrong decision" by voting for her.”

I actually felt that especially in the first half of today's show, the panel and Andy were making a CONCERTED effort not to appear biased at all.

But you have to wonder what would have happened had Jessica and Stephanie been in that top three with Danielle this evening. She may have won tonight......

I'm a Sophie fan and really feeling gutted for Sophie but Danielle won fair and square and good luck to her.

I do agree with one of the comments that Danielle doesn't really show emotion, she comes across quite hard but the people who voted her obviously don't see that as an issue and neither does ALW

Sophie would've been a great Dorothy but I honestly believe she will better doing something else, that's not sour grapes either. Yes I would've loved her to win OTR but she will go on to do something else.

I can think for myself. And I like Danielle. I think she has a lovely voice. ALW liking her did not make me want to vote for her.

She got a strange song for the final. She got songs that did not show her as a Dorothy. yet she still won.

if someone doesn't want to see it, then that's fine.

Would you like some gone-off cheese to go with your sour grapes?

I was anticipating a win for Sophie tonight and I would have wished her all the luck in the world had it happened. I'm sure she'll have a great career anyway, but YAYYYYY for Danielle - she is an amazing find, a real star in the making for one so young and relatively inexperienced. And she seems like a lovely, humble and down-to-earth sort as well. So, so happy for her and her family & friends.

All 3 girls have done themselves proud throughout this series and I'm sure they'll all reap the rewards.

Yes, because nobody wanted her to win from her first audition

I completely agree (thanks Unigal07 .) Even some of the most loyal Sophie fans are being incredibly gracious in their posts on here, so I dont see why there is the need for a thread like this. Danielle can act, so the point is it DOESNT MATTER if she is natrually less emotional, because she can act the emotion... the winner doesnt have to BE Dorothy, she just has to act her.

Well done Dan,

She hasn't been my favourite but I think she'll make a great Dorothy and I wish all three of the finalists the best of luck.

Has anyone actually watched The Wizard of Oz?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow is not a musical theatre 'belt' song. There's no huge money note like they've done for this TV series.

It's a quiet, contemplative song of reflection and the last note is a gentle float up to a sweet tear-jerky finish.
Out of the 2 only Danielle caressed the song. Sophie's voice is a blunt instrument.

I think she shows a wide range of emotions. That's what I liked about Danielle. She does the bitch act, extremelly well. And after she's finished being Dorothy, I think she should be in something where she can show that.

Some Sophie fans are so gracious in defeat, just like their chosen girl. Too bad the same can't be said for the rest.

She won fair and square.... and congratulations to her.

But like someone else said above, I won't be paying to go and see the show with her as Dorothy

Look.I was unhappy that Lauren lost,as she was an extremely good all rounder, polished and very professional. She would have been a very very safe pair of hands for Dorothy. She was also by far the strongest vocally.

Alright, she may not have been in the final anlysis the best Dorothy.Danielle was.I thought she deserved it.

I can honestly say none of the would be Dorothy's disappointed me to the extent that I would use the expression you have.

How about being magnanimous in victory.
It was the greatest ever Briton who coined the phrase. If it was good enough for him,it must be good enough for you!
