Hi guys - looking for a bit of help here

after much debate we are going to buy the tosh 42av635 this will be wall mounted and then 'boxed in' to make it appear embedded in the wall

BUT...

where are the speakers located, i cant find any ref. to the position etc... are they in the 'strip' just below the screen or positioned at the rear ?

if at the rear would the sound get muffled ? i am quite happy to get external speakers if required.

cheers

Darran

Regardless of where the speakers are I would not advise boxing the TV in.

LCD TVs do generate quite a bit of heat, most of that will be vented from the rear, ie right into the box you are planning to build round it! So unless you really want to cook your TV leave it in free air.

Not the rear, the heat is vented from the top, and as long as you leave a suitable gap above the top and below the bottom of the set (usually specified in the instructions) then it will be fine. If you can arrange the 'gaps' to be sloping, even better - as it helps the convection flow..

I think thats the TV i have and I would thoroughly recommend external amp and speakers anyway. The speakers built into modern slim TV's are not great quality but if it helps the speakers seem to be front facing in a narrow band just below the screen. It does produce a fair amount of heat when its bveen on a while too.

Thanks for the replys, glad I can box it in with gaps to allow the heat to go! Would you recommend any particular amps and speakers?
