Although make sure your not with anyone prudish if you go and see Avenue Q!

I'm going - have just booked up to go on July 30th next year. Danielle's was my favourite from the start so I'm chuffed to bits that she's won :0) I've been to loads of West End musicals over the last 30 years and am really looking forward to it.

I think Blood Brothers is amazing - but you'll need a box of tissues for it! I also love the Lion King. Also Les Miserables is good too, as is Phantom of the Opera.

I have a found a hotel but rooms are going fast. I don't want to book a room incase I can't get tickets for the selected date but I don't want to get tickets in case I can't get a room.

dilema! lol”

there is an afternoon show on the saturday

so providing you don't live too far from london you can just go for the day

we are doing just that for wicked in july

Yay! I'm off to see the Wizard. Booked my tickets tonight.

That's good advice from cunningham about booking the show ticket first and then keeping an eye on the budget hotels for their advance deals. Personally, I prefer Premier Inns to Travelodge, but both chains are basic, clean and, more to the point, cheap! What more could you want? Oh, I should add that there are lots and lots of hotels in London. Don't let any of them fool you into booking something on the grounds that rooms will be sold out. They won't. Frankly, you could always book a nice hotel (and cheaper) in one of the suburbs and go to the West End by tube or local train. It might not be so convenient, but it would be a lot cheaper. Accommodation shouldn't be the issue - getting the right ticket for the right show is more important, IMO.

I live in South London, so don't have the accommodation problem, and I should go to more West End shows than I do. All the standard musicals are good - Wicked, Les Mis, Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You are pretty much guaranteed to give you a good night's entertainment.

Two shows I would also recommend

I always go to Saturday matinees - I live in Hertfordshire so it's easy for me to pop on a train to London.

Lion King (just because)
Blood Brothers (fantastic)
Les Mis (longest running in the world)
I really want to see Avenue Q - I've heard it's amazing.

Well the only current West End musicals I've yet to see are Mamma Mia! amd Thriller. So I can't wait for a new show. I've seen everything else more than once each (Avenue Q currently standing at 8 times - wooo!).

At the moment I love 'Love Never Dies', 'Priscilla' and 'Sister Act'

Oh yes! I am going to go and book tickets.

I loved Lauren or Sophie but I shall go and see those two in other West End parts hopefully.

It will be at least a year after the show starts and first reviews are out. Also it depends how scary the show is done and whether it will besuitable for my small granddaughter to go and see it. She will be nearly four by the time I go.

I always stay at my son's flat when visiting London but I still prefer going to Matinees.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is quite rude in parts but very funny.
I didn't really get Avenue Q.
Sister Act is good but a little tame compared to the film.
I loved Jersey Boys.
Billy Elliot was the best musical I have seen recently.

My favourite musicals of all time are:
Les Miserables
Jesus Christ Superstar
Cats

Although I truly do wish Danielle the best, I would not make the effort to go now. I preferred Sophie, Steph or Jess. Danielle is a talented lady, but I do not see her in this role.

No...only if Jessica was Dorothy. Good luck anyway!

No offence to your grannddaughter but it will depend on if she can sit quietly and not annoy people around her more than anything. Some theatre audiences can be snooty and awkward if some even looks like they mat open a sweet wrapper within a mile of the theatre when the performance is on. I'm sure you know what I mean.
It's likely to be a long show so if you do take her a matinee would probably be best. An evening one she will probably be tired as well.

They turned Priscilla into a musical?? The film has me wetting my pants with laughter lol

I want to stay overnight as it will be a late birthday present for myself so I really want the whole experience. The only issue with staying somewhere else in London is that I think travel in London is really expensive isn't it? (I'm useless with London, moved away when I was 3 and have only been back twice since)

I would have thought the same but this kid is a regular cinema goer and does sit still and quietly. She knows to be quiet and only whisper if she has to. But she thoroughly enjoys the cinema and she was very good at a pantomime last Christmas unlike some much older kids. I have no qualms about whether she will behave or not. I certainly couldn't have taken my own children to a show at that age. You are right about Matinees. To be honest I prefer going to Matinees anyway because I prefer going home after the show when it is still daylight.

No - for 2 reasons

I don't particularly like the Wizard of Oz as a show anyway and Danielle didn't float my boat enough to make me fork out that sort of price for tickets. I might have paid it to see Sophie though as I'd like to see her after she has had a bit more training.

I went to Oliver and adored Jodie in it... but then she was my Nancy all the way through.

I won't be going. I might have done if another girl had won but i don't feel any urge to see Danielle. I'd much rather spend my money on seeing Rachel Tucker and Lee Mead in Wicked.

The reviews of Love Never Dies have been awful.
