They always seem to do one doctor light/assistant light episode each year

Very little Amy tonight so I assume we will get a Doctor light episode soon.

Turn Left was all Donna and very little Doctor just beginning and end

Similarly Midnight was all Doctor and little of Donna.

Pretty sure there are many others like this.

I assume this is deliberate each full year

I guess, this way they can organise two episodes at the same time.

Series 2 - Love and Monsters meant that DT and BP could learn another script while it was being filmed, as they only had a few lines in it.

Series 3 - Blink had the same thing. DT could have read his video lines from the script onto film as he was supposed to be reading something anyway.

Series 4 - Midnight gave CT a break to learn Turn Left, and Turn Left gave DT a break to learn Midnight.

As there was no Christmas special filmed in this production run they've got away without doing a Doclite episode this series.

There still is an Amylite episode (not this one) to come though.

Which one's going to be Amy lite?

Spoiler
I know The Lodger (which is episode...11?) is based on a comic script that writer Garteh Roberts created based on Ten, so I'd assume that one is Amy lite, as Eleven simply replaces Ten?

That's the one.

From what I've read
Spoiler
the TARDIS jumps a week into the future with Amy on board so presumably we only see her at the begining and end of the episode.

Ah ok thanks.

Spoiler
The TARDIS seems to really have a mind of it's own this series!

That spoiler is what happened in the comic version of the story, I've heard it suggested it might be more spectacular on TV.

Its not really so they could learn their lines....the reason they don't have much lines in Doctor/companion lites, is because they are not in much of the story...so that equals less lines. And the reason for lites is for shooting schedules, and fitting that extra episode in.

I don't think Hungry Earth was what you would call a proper Companion lite, I think the story required Amy not be there much in the first story, rather than writing the story so that Amy isn't in it much.
