What will Sophie do now?
Magic Girl
23-05-2010
It was good to hear on yesterday's show what the other girls have planned - A levels, training, agents etc.I wonder what Sophie will do? Do you think she should try for a career now, when her profile is high, or go to train, where her skills will improve? Must be quite a dilemma for her.

Sophie should train to fully reach her obvious potential.

She's memorable enough with her natural beauty and sweet nature to remain in people's thoughts for the next couple of years.

Then she can return as the full package.

She was one of the real pluses of the series.

I think that training would definitely be the best option for her

I think that she should go to a performing arts school and improve further before going for any auditions. She's still very young, and we saw how much she improved in just a few weeks, imagine what proper training will do for her. As someone has said, she is memorable enough to be fresh in people's minds for when she is cast in something.

I'll be following her career. A thoroughly lovely, likeable, charismatic, talented young lady.

I think ultimately she could land a role in TV or film because she has such a striking, individual look. The camera loves her.

I really hope she doesn't resort to TV.

She's much too good for that.

She is such a striking and talented girl that I hope that she takes the best advice she can get. She has more to learn to become as good as she could be. So young too.

I think she needs some proper acting training. Her voice has a lovely tone (though I thought she was a bit shouty in 'Reflection') but her acting isn't up to scratch. But she's a lovely girl with a lot of talent and she improved so much during the weeks.

She probably has to cram for exams - maybe catch up with revision time and take them at resit time.

But the telephone will already be ringing with offers for training - she will be able to take her pick.

It's up to her. It's Sophie's choice

She'll certainly have a career in the theatre if she wants one. I think the only thing that held her back early on was nerves and she finally conquered them in the last couple of weeks.

....She was just on a TV show for ten weeks, how is she 'too good' for it?

I think training would defintiely be the best option at this point - she needs to have some help kicking that self-consciousness which seemed to hold back her performance for most of the series. And although her voice is lovely her real weak point was in movement (really noticeable in the final that they didn't risk a big show number like Danielle's and Lauren's) and that's only going to come with training. She would be brilliant with some solid training to underpin that charm.

Revise and sit her exams

That sounds the sensible thing to do. Sophie would have made a great Dorothy but I'm not sure if MT is actually the field where she will be best suited. As far as MT goes I thought Lauren, Stephanie and Jessica were the front runners.

Completely the wrong attitude to have when you're at the start of your career (as Sophie is) and I hope she doesn't think that way. It's when people start to develop that kind of attitude that they find it hard to get work (because they're aiming too high too early).

I'd also add that TV work is what a lot of performers aspire to. For example, if Sophie were to land a TV role in a drama of the calibre of the recent Five Daughters, that would challenge her as an actress and raise her profile. Being a recognisable name is often the key these days to getting WE leading roles.

It's not aiming too high too early ... I'd rather call it having proper focus towards what should be, in her case, a clearly achievable goal.

Maybe Sophie could play Dorothy in a touring production
