How Did The Stars Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer Get On With Each Other??

Just like to know, I'm watching that and Angel for the first time now (better late than never)... and while they seem OK with each other in the show, I know that appearances can be deceiving.

Willow and Wesley (well the people who played them) married each other, but did anyone hate anyone else? How did SMG get on with the rest of the cast?

A license to you all to gossip and bitch with a clear conscience, all facts and rumours gratefully received.

And, if you can, any analysis on why SMG never reached international film megastardom. Or JM, for that matter.

Think they got on well, never read a story of them not. SMG didn't even go after the Buffy role, she was auditioning for Cordelia apparently.

Whether that indicates she thinks of herself as a bitch, hmm.

Sarah and Seth Green (Oz) are still friends and have been since childhood, she's also close to Michelle thingie who played her sister.

Read that Alyson Hannigan and Sarah were really close during the early years of Buffy but some falling out happened and they never got back to being like that again.

I was very impressed when I saw her interviewed, I think it was Jonathon Ross. She came across as a very bright and fun person.

On the Angel side of things, I know that David Boreanaz and Christian Kane (who played Lindsey) are good friends, and they were really close to Andy Hallet who passed away last year (Andy played Lorne).

As for Buffy, I've only heard that SMG and Alyson were friends, and then had a following out like another poster said.

I heard a rumour about Alyson and Sarah falling out because SMG kinda didn't tell everyone Buffy was going to end til like the last minute not sure if I recalled correctly though.

What I heard was that SMG told Joss she did not want to do Buffy anymore. So he wrote the final season as the final season. But she never told the other actors it was her that wanted the show to end, they found out later from Joss.

I remember in interviews she kept saying her husband Freddie kept telling her she was too good for tv and should move to film. Think her biggest movies were The Grudge movies but she just did not have the name to really carry a movie alone. Hence starring with The Rock etc.

SMG turned up to a Buffy reunion for the first time last year, usually the other actors went and she didn't.

Oh and it was rumoured in season one and two that SMG and DB had a thing. This caused his first marriage to break up. But no one knows for sure if it was just rumour.

I read in one of my Buffy books that Julie Benz (Darla) was quite mean to Alyson Hannigan

Anya and Andrew were the funniest characters in the whole show. Comic geniuses, the pair of them.

I got the impression from various cast interviews that Sarah MG was set apart from the others; she rarely appeared in any of the DVD extras. She didn't seem to be there at the wrap show either. All the others looked really close.

It would make sense if there was tension between Alyson Hannigan and SMG; Willow's role grew more prominent and Alyson became the more talented actress. AH could never be as big as SMG because she wasn't the beautiful lead. But in my imagination, they will always be best friends who probably spend every Sunday with Nick Brendon and Anthony Head, fighting evil and making snappy one liners.

Indeed they will.......

I've taken a look at the wrap party vid on the final disc on the Series 7 box set, and SMG isn't there at all. Weird to see 'Spike' talking in his real, American accent. And to see 'Drusilla' doing likewise without putting on her insane manner.....

I so love the Buffy and Angel series.......

I've recently introduced a friend to them and she's now totally obsessed. Like me she's in her 30s, too 'old' to be enjoying a teenage TV series.

Except that we Buffy fans know it wasn't a teenage TV series. It was some of the smartest, funniest and most moving television ever produced.

I love The Sopranos, Mad Men, West Wing and The Wire. And Buffy sits quite proudly at the top of my personal pantheon of 'Greatest Telly'.

I was only 7 or 8 when it first started, so didn't really see the earlier series. I started watching it from about season 5, but watched earlier ones at the same time to catch up. I remember the end of season 5, I was completely in tears, yet I'm not even really a fan of Buffy the character! I think watching it back now, as a 20 year old, I really get just how good it was.

I think that's why Angel is my favourite, as I watched that from the start and was that bit older when it started.

There's quite a bit of humour as well as scary stuff in the shows and that was a pleasant surprise to find. Anya with her hatred of bunnies, Spike's passion for the Buffybot, and Cordelia/Wesley and Cordelia/Xander. Not to mention making The Trio the first Big Bad of Series Six...

Anyhow, back on topic. No major scandals or rumour then about the Scoobies? Almost a shame.....

well Alyson (Willow) married Alexis (Wesley), so they must have gotten on well enough.

No, not at all. If I ever have to do a cabaret turn at a party, I'll bleach my hair blonde, slick it back, and sing Spike's song 'Rest In Peace'....

I went to a talk with James Marsters a few years back now, and while he never said anything outright about not liking her, I kind of got the feeling that he wasn't sorry to say goodbye to SMG. He seemed to get on well with everyone else though, from how he talked about them.

I love this thread James Marsters was friendly with Amber Benson (Tara), he took a role in a film that she wrote/directed/produced. He has been very complimentary about Anthony Head too. He did say in a Buffy special that he was friends with SMG but that was when the series was still being filmed. Most of the cast seemed to be aware that they were part of a special show, it's a shame the lead actress didn't seem to agree

I heard Anthony Head got on well with everyone, and is a close friend of Alyson Hannigan, who stays with his family when she visits England

WOW!! Just like she did in the aftermath of the ''Wicked Willow' events.... a case of real life mirroring the fiction of life in the Sunnydale universe!

Wonder if he can bag her a part in 'Merlin' then?

I think I'd be totally gobsmacked if I was in a cafe having coffee and a sandwich and at the table next to me I noticed Willow (and her husband Wesley) and Giles!!

There where a few rumours about Sarah Michelle Gellar being a bitch, I dont think this is true, she always said she liked to distance work for her personal life so I think she just saw other cast members as collegues and nothing more.

But I like to hear about the cast that have remained friends, espeically about Alison Hannighan staying with Anthony while she is over in the UK!

James seemed to be quite good friends with a lot of the cast. Does anyone know anything about Nicolas Brendon? I havnt heard much about him, is he still friends with any of the cast?
