If Sophie been asked to do 76 Trombones or Mambo Italiano?
Sophie was very good at ballad type songs were no or very little movement required. In fact I thank she had the better voice of all three finalists and is easily equal if not better that Charlotte Church at singing, however her dancing/movement/acting skils were very limited(proper training would probably make a big difference here) and as a result she performed very few lively numbers throughout the series. This is why Danielle won she was very talented at all three principles of MT singing, acting and dancing

I agree. Sophie's really sweet but I can't imagine her doing those sorts of songs - I think she'd be way outside her comfort zone.

I think each girl played to their strengths last night.
Sophie excelled at the balads, Danielle at the performances requiring movement and a touch of cheekiness and humour and Lauren at something that permitted her to show off her vocal talents. |

I love Sophie but agree that she probably wouldn't have pulled off Mambo or 76 Trombones. Danielle certainly had the upper hand there. I did enoy seeing her perform "I Enjoy Being A Girl" though, which was a bit more out of her comfort zone.
I agree that more training would do her the world of good - I can see her being even more amazing one day. |

My post has gone missing but I agree with Sid, and was going to add that on the other hand, as Sophie is weaker with the high tempo, fun numbers involving movement and dance; Danielle is weaker with the ballads. Lauren could pretty much do anything to be honest but never screamed "Dorothy".

"Dorothy" is not the right role for Sophie - Sheila Hancock hinted at this - so did the other two panel judges.
She needs to be on stage - she will be on stage - but in a more glamourous role (Stephen Sondheim) - she's more of a Grace Kelly or Lana Turner than a Judy Garland. Sophie will have her day. Dorothy might have been the wrong starting point. |

Sometimes having a set dance routine can make it easier than sort of hovering around. She might have been really good at showboating with the male dancers.

i always thought that Sophie looks a bit like Judy Garland.
![]() No I couldn't see Sophie excelling at songs like Mambo or 76 trombones. I could be wrong of course, since we've never seen her try anything like them really. |

yes I would have liked to see Sophie do those two songs .... she did pretty well in the up-tempo group numbers.
Of course Jessica would have been great in them without a doubt. |

she did do one uptempo song with dances earlier in the show and it didn't go down well with the judges.
please tell me you are not referring to That Don't Impress Me Much. That doesn't count. |

How do we know Sophie couldn't do an uptempo number with backing dancers? She hasn't been given one since week two, she was great in 'All That Jazz', if Sohpie was terrible at umtempo numbers with backing dancers she'd have been given one last night.

Thats before you give Jessica or Stephanie 76 Trombones or Jenny any of the songs Sophie and Lauren have done recently If you had put all 11 through a months training, dressed and styled them all as Dorothy and put all 11 of them on in one show and got them all to do OTR and the medley from Wizard, I doubt very much that the top 3 would be as it was or the winner would necessarily have been Danielle . |

Just begs the question what would have happened if Stephanie had had Mambo and Danielle Bojangles or if Danielle had been given Songbird or Lauren's big numbers.

I do think she'll make a very good Dorothy - but so would quite a few of the others have done. |

I quite agree with this post. Those songs did play to Danielle's strengths, and she performed them well, but it would be wrong to forget that compared with the majority of the others her voice was one of the weaker ones. Her Over The Rainbow was one of the worst of the competition sadly, though I have no doubt she'll perform it much better by the time the show opens.
I do think she'll make a very good Dorothy - but so would quite a few of the others have done. Personally I loved Danielle's over the rainbow I thought she acted it brilliantly.... I agree vocally she is week but with these 10 months and the fact that she is an amazing actress there is no doubt in my mind that she is the perfect dorothy and will perform to the highest standard on that stage..... I think that she is the perfect Dorothy and I am sooo happy i voted so much for her ![]() ![]()

Honestly.................. emilie???????????? and as much as I love steph and also really really enjoyed her over the rainbow she couldn't hit the money notes either.... saying she is the worst is a bit extreme.... she wasn't the best but FAR from the worst

at times for me Danielle has produced some gorgeous vocals. The bum notes are the exception, not the rule.

I don't think anyone could have done Mambo to Danielle's standard (well the other 10 i mean).....
the brilliance of it was.... we were watching this shy little girl transform on stage and no other contestant could have ever done it to her standard.... also I think her voice the acting the dancing was all perfect and worked completely because it was her I am sure the others (well ok only stephanie.... because Lauren doesn't come across as the I am gonna let my hair down type.... but then she never had a chance to showcase that really....) could have done well with it..... but for me I think it only worked because it was Danielle doing it... But this isn't just Danielle's Mambo ..... I doubt anyone could have done Lauren's songs to the standard she did it.... I mean they only worked because it was her.... same with stephanie and some of her songs |

Really??? I know she has issues with her range at times, but teenage performers are encouraged not to to belt too much in case they ruin their still-developing voices - and at times for me Danielle has produced some gorgeous vocals. The bum notes are the exception, not the rule.

If Danielle had been given Reflections or Tomorrow, no chance!!!!!!! In the longer term, she is more likely to be an actress who can sing. Will find lots of MT types who will beat her up at auditions.
It actually did not matter what happened last night, as in IDA, the decision was made long before. |
