I think Jenny was far superior to Eva Cassidy singing Songbird. Her OTR was stunning, and anyone who can at 18 deliver a performance of Send In The Clowns like Jenny did would've been a fantastic Dorothy. If Jessie Buckley or Niamh Perry had done that performance ALW would've wet himself!

But as per usual the Lord is an idiot, but I fully expect Jenny to follow the rest of my favourites - right to the west end!

I think Jenny did a very good job with Songbird and Send in the Clowns, but she DID have a tendency to go nasal in some songs, particularly Bridge Over Troubled Water in her sing off, it is very noticeable...

Yes, for someone who wants to have a career in theatre, she should really go and see a few more West End shows.

Leaving fact aside,I think your right the girls you mention could have played Dorothy,although I think Steph was the most unlikely looking Dorothy out of all of them apart from Amy.
Stephanie really messed things up for herself.Yes she was given the poison chalice,but that song was'nt about her singing,it was about interpretation.I think if she'd held back her obvious disappointment after the panels comments and being in the bottom two,the Lord would have quite likley saved her and not Steph.As others have said,her immaturity cost her.
I had nothing against Jessica or Jenny,but did Jenny really have a golden moment.If she did I can't recall it.
Jessica in my view was just not Dorothy,a bit to extrovert and quirky.
Which brings us back to my original post.As for manipulation...well yes of course I agree wholeheartedly the wrong girl won.It should have been Lauren.She was manipulated out (but then I would say that).Trouble is I don't see how you can exclude Danielle from this.She had some slippery moments to,including being the Lords obvious favourite.

Of course he was always going to save her,unless she had a disaster like Stephanie and was up against a better performer on the night in the sing off.But being saved does'nt count,because we all accept it as part and parcel of the competition.

Jenny only does that with rubbish songs like that silly Diana Ross song. She was fine when it was an MT song or a decent rock / big band song like Songbird or Feeling Good.

Agree with this. I think the only song she did good with was 'songbird' .

As opposed to the girl who won? I think Jenny did well with Send In The Clowns, and Feeling Good.

The top two girls only really had one choice of which song to reprise, but then again that's true of the top two in ADWD and of Jessie in IDA.

I thought Jenny was vocally good but extremely boring stage-presence-wise and completely out of her depth acting-wise on both "Feeling Good" and "Send In the Clowns". To me, Jenny is not a MT performer at all. She is a singer, plain and simple.

As for the top 2, I agree about Sophie for the most part, although she maybe could have done "I Enjoy Being a Girl" again. As for Danielle, she could have reprised "Red", "Just a LIttle Girl" or "Cry Me a River" as well, I think, although "Mambo" was definitely her showstopper and I'm glad she did that one. I also think it was a wise choice because she was able to put to rest doubts I've seen expressed here and elsewhere about whether she would be able to do so well with it again, as well as doubts about her vocals and breath control. Well, she did do it again just as well if not better, and her vocals and breath control were noticeably improved. She did very, very well with it the second time as well as the first, and it certainly was a crowd pleaser.

I enjoyed all of her performences, bar could it be magic and on my own, and even on my own was ok imo, apart from a few of shouty notes. Didn't enjoy any of Jenny's at all. Songbird at a push.

I'm the other way round I only liked Mambo. That wasn't my point, my point was the finalists on these shows are not hugely better than those who didn't make the final.

Yes well. They are all talented, just in different ways. I can only judge based on what I think is good.

According to Sheila Hancock Jenny was one of the best in the acting task.

How was she 'out of her depth' she performed Send InThe Clowns the same way Jodie Prenger did and as others have pointed out in the same way as other younger MT performers did. She expressed the emotion of the song and told the story, what else was she meant to do.

I remember some people on here during ADWD saying Daniel Boys couldn't act, and he had no stage presence.

No, she did not sing it like Jodie Prenger IMO. At least I didn't get the emotion from Jenny that I got from Jodie on that song. To me she looked like exactly what she was--a teenager singing an older woman's song. I didn't get a sense that she really understood the feeling behind it.

As for Daniel, I think ALW just didn't want him as Joseph. He was clearly a good actor and performer, and he was my second favorite overall (after Lee), but I'm actually glad he didn't win. Joseph was not the part for him, and he was amazing in Avenue Q--I got to see it when I was in London last year. Maybe Jenny will get a part somewhere, but I still see her as more of a singer than a MT performer.

I barely remember any of Jenny's songs as they were far too forgettable apart from 'songbird' and she always felt the need to smile in songs despite the songs not being a happy song, she couldn't interpret the songs well at all.

She didn't do 'send in the clowns' the same justice Jodie did, her 'Why do fools fall in love' was nowhere near as good as Jessie's and Jessie's wasn't even particularly great.

But I guess it is all down to preference.

If Jenny's more of a singer why is she studying musical theatre? I thought she totally got the emotion of Send in the Clowns, but she's always going to look wrong singing it to some because she looks 18. It's why she was given the song.

Lloyd-Webber specifically told Daniel he couldn't hold an audience. He now covers the dumbest sing off decision in four series as Daniel didn't fit the role, neither did the person being saved.

But because it ALW giving out these criticisms some people assume they're correct

I don't actualy care what Andrews says, it all sounds like twaddle to me anyway, no ofence to him... Danielle always looked embarresed when he gave her these odd comments, although I suppose it's better than getting told You are crap... or the infamous, "Sorry I just don't like your voice."

I just wanted Danielle to win becuase I like her style of acting. I've never seen anything quite like it in any of these shows. That's just what I think, and a few others do aswell of course.

Yes. He's a musical theatre composer, highly respected by some I'm told. Why wouldn't some people go by what he says. Others may be persuaded by what Sheila Hancock or Charlotte Church, I always listened to John Barrowman and Bill Kenwright on previous panels.

She doesn't smile in Warwick Avenue or Send In The Clowns.

Plenty of people think the opposite to what Andrew says, but respect what he is saying as MT is what he made his millions from. I highly doubt the public thought to themselves, 'oh Andrew disliked it, that must mean now I dislike it'

No sorry, just read that back. I don't think people think ALW loves x, now I love them or the opposite. I think if he points out something negative or positive people think it has some weight to it. It's an expert opinion.

Danielle had weird song choices. Not good or bad as such more where the f*ck did they think that up from?
