Neil Gaiman interviewed by BBC and there must be MORE to the interview somewhere

Nice to see he supports Terry Pratchett's view too

Awwww he sounds genuinely excited about it, I'm really looking forward to seeing that, will be interesting to see where they are filming in August, might give us a clue as to what it's about

I expect he and Practhett have discussed DW over the years as well

I'm awaiting the attacks on Gaiman now for daring to say "Doctor Who has never pretended to be hard science fiction"

I thought exactly the same thing when I read that

Maybe we need to point DS at the article so they can quote bits out of context and give it a misleading title?

Let's not, they can manage that all on their own without any help!

It just takes a bit of context reversal, trimmings and some tidying.

Gaiman: "Doctor Who is brilliant at being fairytale-like science-fiction.".

Therefore;

Gaiman: "Doctor Who is rubbish at being hardcore science-fiction".

This is too long for a headline. Lets trim it.

Gaiman:"Doctor Who is rubbish"

Hmmm, not a strong enough headline.

Gaiman: "Doctor Who is horrendous"

The context is still there if you look for it. Its DS readers fault for misinterpreting it!

Just so long as its not

Gaiman: "Doctor Who is rubbish at being hardcore science-fiction".

to Gaiman: "Doctor Who is hardcore".

Mediawatch would explode in a fit of deluded outrage

Hang on - where's the downside there?

You may as well submit that to the ds reporting team, would save them a job!

Well, except during the Bidmead era, but I take his point. I actually don't think there is any "hard science fiction" on television at the moment. Critics like Gary K. Wolfe define "hard science fiction" as science fiction which "focuses on scientific or technical detail, or on scientific accuracy". That doesn't really describe most of Doctor Who.
