Connecting TV and Sky box to Hifi.
I have a fairly standard setup with a Sky box to a video to a TV. Also I have a DVD straight to the TV via a Scart lead. To get the sound to play through my Technics system I have a scart (TV) to phono lead to the aux inputs on the HI-fi.
So my query is this: I listen to the radio via Sky (digi radio) but this setup means that I need the TV on to do so. Is there any equipment I can use to link the audio outs on the digibox and the Scart -phono to just the one set of phono inputs. Ta. |

Have to ask, the SKY box isn't connected to the VCR or TV via scart ?
Since you are asking these questions I assume that your Amp has very limited audio inputs? The obvious method would be to connect the digiboc via twin phonos directly to the amp and have the TV connected to another set of inputs on the amp. If you only have one set of phono inputs on the amp then you can buy a device that allows you to connect multiple sources and feed a single switchable output to an amp. Something like this or this. |

Thanks for the answer.
The Sky box is connected by Scart to the VCR by RF to the TV as there is only two Scart sockets on the TV. As I said one is the DVD input the other is the Audio output by means of an adapter to the phono outs of the amp. The amp in question is a Technics midi system (separate stacking bits but no way to "add" bits and it only has one Aux input. It has a turntable input too but thats not suitable for using as a Sky input IIRC. I will be checking the bits out but if there are any other thoughts please let me know. Thanks again.

You can get a little box which switches between audio sources from any electrical accessory shop - mine came from Tandy.
You feed the DVD and any other sound sources into its phono sockets and press a switch to direct your audio to phono sockets on the back, which go to your HiFi - cheap and cheerful! |

Try www.waretv.co.uk - sorry if this link doesn't work - but they should be able to help.
The main Tandy operation is now owned by the CarPhone Warehouse. Maybe Maplins could also help. |

Why do you have an RF connection from the Sky to the Video? Just run a Scart between them. Your Sky box should have specific twin round "audio phono" sockets on the back for hifi hookup.
I used to also have 2 sets of audio leads with just 1 input on my hifi. A switch box (2 in, 1 out) was the best option for me. Dave |

Been away but thanks for all the replies.
I have sourced a couple of switch boxes, so hopefully I can get one to sort out my problem. Thanks again. |
