Sick of Radio 1 ramming the big weekend down our throats

It's over. Now just get back to normal programming.
I'm sick to death of turning on the radio and listening to some screaming teenagers burst out of my speakers. Live music is best seen and heard live - hence the name.

I know exactly what you mean, drives me mad! Taken to listening to Chris Evans in the morning instead now cause they seem to be playing an hour of live stuff from 9am!

I've taken to listening to the Golden Hour on Real Radio.

It's like that every year. I didn't mind so much last year as I went but yes, it is annoying when they keep rubbing it in that you're not there.

I can't stand 'live' music either, unless I'm actually there. The music sunds awful and distorted and the screaming fans in the background give me a headeache.

Last year was at Maidstone wasn't it? Can't believe I didn't know that!! I live literally 20 minutes from there, and my favourite band played

They will continue to play a lot of live songs and talk about it until the end of this week - they always do it like this.

Every weekday this week from 9am they are playing a whole hour of live songs.

Even on Friday, when the Golden Hour's supposed to be on?

Hmm not sure about that actually. Moyles didn't mention Friday, he just said 'all this week'. They might start the Golden Hour at 8 instead

I'd rather Chris Moyles didn't play music at all, I'd rather listen to the banter.

In general I completely agree, but it seems that for some reason the recordings they made of the live sets for various bands over the weekend were particularly bad.

I didn't go to the Big Weekend but I saw Marina and the Diamonds play live on Sunday night in Manchester and thought she was excellent (first time I'd really heard her), so I had a look at the footage of the set she performed earlier in the day at the Radio 1 Big Weekend - and was amazed at how bad she sounded on the live recording.

I also had a look at footage of a few other bands (Joy Formidable, Bombay Bicycle Club, Biffy Clyro) performing at the Radio 1 Big Weekend and again I thought their sets sounded terrible - really bad sound quality, badly mixed and poorly recorded. These are all bands I've seen live and who I thought were great when I saw them.

So I'm not sure how they managed it, but it seems they managed to produce particularly bad live recordings of many acts!
