The NOTW article says (near the end) that "the voting system is set for a complete overhaul this year, so that boring characters can be booted out more easily". It mentions how previous housemates couldn't be evicted because they weren't nominated, and that "the mums' vote kept people in the house who were not liked by younger viewers". So, now, and I quote:

"The new system could occasionally bypass both the housemates and the public".

Hmmm.....

I think they should have Avid Merrion choose the evictees for the first few weeks. He could then chain them in a cupboard with Craig giving them DIY tips and Scott reading exerpts from his plays

I don't think they will change the voting. At least I hope not. Last year was okay until Jon and Federico went, and even then it still had it's moments after that. If anything was the problem it was the lack of booze in the early stages. As well as a despicable assemblage of dim-witted women.

A housemate was asked to go to the diary room. They just happened to ask as Cameron walked past the door, and so naturally he went in.

You know I can remember a whole lot more from previous years than I can from last year's series. At the moment I feel no enthusiasm at all although I know that will change.

The only system that could by pass the public would be for a selection committee to do it or to do it at random. A selection committee would lead to the question who decided who won and random voting could leave the dullest HM while getting rid of an interesting HM just as often as it got rid of them. You could vote on the dullest, but people would still vote for the person they liked the least. Horrible idea - distorts dynamics of the group, produces an arbitary final four, could evict the people who allow the stars to shine by dealing with the daytoday problems (Elizabeth/Dean for Helen and Brian) and would still leave the dull but popular people (Gos/Cameron) in the house.

a easy voting system is let us vote to keep the favorites in, all house mates must be elegible then the boring ones would get booted out first and nominations can be kept for something like rewards or punishments.

How about housemates not being able to vote for the same people two weeks in a row. If they then extended it to three nominations per housemate the net would widen.

I'm still backing the Brazilian reworking of Head of House, with the HoH nominating one person and the other housemates having one vote each to determine the second nominee, with the public then voting to be evict.

I could be wrong, but if I'm not, at least I can I told you first!!!

One of the best things about the show is that two or more people are put up for eviction from when they vote for each other.

I don't think they should muck that up.

You mean our votes can actually determine the outcome of a reality TV show?

How foolish

I'd like the voting to be reversed and that we vote for who we DON'T want to stay.

For instance in the past if Fed, Jon and Cameron where up for eviction. If you wanted Cameron out then we had to vote for both Fed and Jon.

But of course that won't happen will it.
Yes it would make it easier and more direct in voting, but then it would mean less calls.
Endemol would lose money - oh dear we can't have that can we - (said sarcatically)

Instead of saying "To Evict **** Call !"£$%^&" They might say "For *** to Stay...Call!"£$%^&" This may keep the more entertaining housemates in!!!

BUT i like the sense that the housemates are evicted cos the public want to see them go... Actually they wouldn't know how the voting for public has gone until they come out the house.....

Instead of phoning to EVICT housemates....Phone for them TO STAY! This may make a bigger difference than you think....

Nah, I want the evictees to know they got votes from people that don't like them - I want nastiness, having positive voting is too lovey-dovey.

I liked the rumour that the evicted HM chose someone to be evicted, but only let them nominate when they see what has really been happening in the house. Let the other HM's nominate and don't tell them theirs' are not the only nominations. it would be so interesting to see if evicted HM's alliances switch after they see what had actually been happening in the house

How about letting the housemates see each others nominations on the plasma screen after they have taken place.

Now that would be evil

Remember how the voting system in BB2 led to Paul being up every week, and every week the GBP keeping him in? I think that's what Endemol were worried about in BB4 with Jon, so they went for the double whammy. I'm sure that the prime motive was to make more revenue. So how can they keep up the revenue going this year - and 'bypass the public'? Sure they could have all Hm's up for nomination and people have to vote for their favourites as a way of keeping interesting people in - this would bypass the HM's but not the public, though. Any 'bypassing' of the public would hit them where it hurts - in the pocket. I'll be interested to see what happens.

I have a feeling that :

"The new system could occasionally bypass both the housemates and the public"

means that the loser of a task could be immediately evicted.

That would really change the evictions.
