The STV local region is still there but the others will not tune in since yesterday. They are able to be tuned in on a SKY box quite easily but not on most Freesat boxes yet. We probably won't see them on there till they launch officially.

Some rumours going around about Sky exclusive/encryption etc. All false STV have stopped ITVHD from broadcasting their channel on Scottish EPGs as it is a simulcast of their main channel. STV are planning to release their HD channel to all, they have to after the fuss they made about ITV broadcasting in Scotland. The channel 3 license and ofcom are supporting STV but if some platforms don't get it Ofcom will allow ITVHD a license to broadcast in Scotland and that is the last thing STV wants.

There's always rumours about encryption around HD channels but I am confident STV will be on all platforms as they want to be the main channel for Scotland and they can only acheive that if they are available on all platforms in Scotland + the channel 3 licence and Ofcom won't allow them to encrypt.

Realy? Ofcom won't allow ITV to encrypt? Why then are about half a dozen of the ITV1 regions encrypted if it's "not allowed"

receiving all three variations of STV using the Bush HD reciever watched stv news last night, upscaled HD huge improvement of picture unfortunatly this morning there is interference on sound on stv north but east and west are ok. these channels apear with a caption " stv service currently unavilivibile" but if you use the remote to flip through go to a normal chanell then go back to STV the picture go's black and after a second the HD picture coumes on.

I can confirm that these are being broadcast by SKY also UTV and Chi ITV as I was about to put TV off an ad for sky and the world cup came on on the small print at the bottom of the screen is said no subscription needed and mentrioned BBC and STVHD

The encryption is to stop people outside the UK from access to ITV programming. All ITV regions are available within the UK FTA.
In any case I was talking about STV not encrypting not ITV. STV's content is already readily available worldwide it has no restrictions therefore does not need encryption unless ITV has a problem with their programmes in any case it should not matter as STV is on 2D and I think it still is a narrow beam for the UK so only minor spillage into europe.

Encryption on some ITV regions is only allowed to protect ITV's content from spilling into europe. Although ITV have talked about encryption within the UK in the past it would mean giving up the channel 3 license I don't see that happening now but maybe after DSO when the channel 3 license won't have the same prestige it once had and only if ITV can't turn themselves around.

Must be a problem with my Goodmans HD Box a first time retune has not fixed the problem. Maybe I will switch the box off for the rest of the afternoon and try later.

But they're not. There are eight ITV1 regions and one version of ITV1 HD encrypted by Sky.

it is not on the epg you need to go to add outher channels /non freesat mode imput-

10936

V

22000

5/6

DVB

then do the search on the bush box you go to BBC1 then use the - on remote and you get the non freesat channels

I had them in Non freesat mode before they started testing but since have gone and trying to retune them does not seem to work. All I get is G24 which seems to be an ITV3 stream. They should be there but for some reason don't show up.

This problem has happend before but usually has something to do with the FEC rating coming up wrong but everything in this case seems to fine.

I will try again and I am sure it will sort itself out it usually does.

10936 is the same as before and is carrying a test card with the same ID's as mentioned above.

I tried this on my HDR earlier today and it would only tune the channels when the receiver is set to search for ALL channels because when I searched for FTA channels nothing turned up.

The channel with the colour test bars was working this morning with the This Morning show showing on the now and next banner.

I doubt that any of STV's own programmes will be made in HD.

STV have all ready filmed some programmes in HD and have done so since last year. Many have even been shown in HD on STV Player in the past.

You don't have a Goodmans box by any chance. Mine won't manually tune in some FTA channels because the FEC setting will not change.

For example FOBO Movies FTA but can't tune in.

I have had trouble for the past 2 days with UTV, STV, Channel and today after several first time installs (the only way to reset box) it eventually tuned in manually in Non Freesat mode.

Goodmans/Alba should allow you the option to change the FEC setting manually as I believe this would fix many problems.

Eventually things tend to fix themselves on my box but it takes time and a lot of patients.
