In a previous thread a whole hornets nest was stired up on the subject of dyslexia

I loved the doctors response of "I can't make meringue"

Firstly i would like to congratulate the Beeb for it's responsibe airing of the subject, and it's piece on the website.

Secondly I would also like to know of any other disability related episodes. I will start the ball rolling with

Lumic from The age of Steel
Davros from Genesis of the Daleks

The "meringues" line was lovely.

Disability in DW? Hmmm ...

- Dortmun in The Dalek Invasion of Earth
- Bennett in The Rescue
- Elizabeth in Battlefield
- The Vicar in Remembrance of the Daleks

There has been some discussion about characters with facial disfigurement being baddies, and how their affliction is shorthand for "baddie". (Quillam in Vengeance on Varos; Sharaz Jek in The Caves of Androzani; Magnus Greel in The Talons of Weng Chiang).

When Nabil Shaban was offered the role of Sil, he was keen to take it. His agent felt it would not be appropriate for an actor with a disability to play a vicious alien slug, but Nabil ignored this advcie, and went on to become one of thedefining baddies of the 80s.

Luke Rattigan appeared to have an autistic spectrum disorder of some degree.

And he turned out good, so that's good!
