He did say "Thank you for the opportunity" so he's def gone.

Anyway 2 of the useless ones now gone, I can finally enjoy the show.

Yes, thats how I understood it. They arent actually going to have 8 16/17 year olds 'chilling' in a posh central london flat all week doing nothing in between 2-day tasks for 6 weeks really, are they. Particularly as some of them have businesses to run So presumably I'm guessing it was 'proper' flu or something and there was no way he would be up to speed the next day. The scene in the boardroom suggested to me that they all knew what was coming beforehand.

The US non celebrity version has a similar philosophy on occasion. I watched an episode (don't know which season) where one apprentice was excused a task because of a religious festival having missed the previous one for the same reason.

Given the way this series is filmed, if Adam was as poorly as he looked there would have been no way back for him.
