Male needs advice on clothes.

A recent visit to the town centre left me suprised. So many clothes that I want.

The problem is, I have been rotatating 5 tops, two pairs of jeans, 1 pair of trainers and 3 jackets for about a year. These are basic and bland clothing because I've only developed an interest in my appearance recentely. Its annoying having to wear crap clothes all the time because I have nothing else.

I have bought 1 more top and another two pairs of jeans recentely and it was such a huge difference.

However, I am terribly picky when it comes to T-shirts. I can wear plain black ones but anything with stuff like quotes or vibrant images on it I just don't like. The T-shirts that I happen to like are ranging from £20-60 in the designer shops.

So any advice on how I would go about approaching my image sensibly? What about shoes? Does they matter much?

Shoes do matter, they can often complete a look!

I think you should just go with whatever you feel comfortable in, no point trying to jump into a trend if you feel ridiculous.

Personally I'd suggest checking on amazon, you can often pick up some decent stuff at a reasonable price on there.

Definitely shoes are as important as everything else - the right footwear can change an outfit from casual to smart even if all you do is change your shoes. (As with everything, though, get it wrong and you'll end up looking daft - dressy shoes with really baggy jeans would look ridiculous but would look good with bootcut/straight jeans whereas one pair of trainers would probaly look decent enough with both.)

Definitely buy what you like though, and not what the shops are pushing as the current 'look' - most high-street stores tend to have a 6 week turnaround in their promotional items, and whilst some things (like blazers and checked shirts) don't seem to go out of style, a lot of other things do.

Topman have some really great not-too-flashy stuff that's pretty stylish at the moment that probably won't be out of fashion in a few weeks time. H&M are good for shirts as well.

One thing I would suggest is next time you're in a shop, pick up something that you would normally never try on and see how it looks - you might surprise yourself.

Yeah, I was going to buy something different today but then my sister gave her input which led me to put it back.

In retrospect, I shouldn't listen to what a chav says. I'll probably go up again tommorrow and get something different.

It's not always easy to change your look, because people are so quick to try and knock you down, but if you feel good in something, that's what matters.

My family take the piss out of me because I prefer the fit of women's jeans, but I wear them anyway, and tbh, they can never really tell the difference between the two anyway, the only reason they know, is because I mentioned it.

I'd love to take you shopping some time, come down to London ?

Hehe. I can imagine that being a crazy day.

Maybe in the future I'll be able go to london. Can't really just get up and go sadly.

I think I can wait.
