never heard of either, timi yuro will be featured, as will those tracks, in about 2019 !

baby washington will be featured too, but not that track as its not mentioned in the catalogue im using.

The album 'Birthday party' is a fine slab of pop psych. dated now, but some of the tracks still stand up. I'm still fond of the last track 'End of the road' - used to finish sets with it years back.

Mention of the wonderful Lovin' Spoonful will definitely wake me from my slumber and get me posting again after such a long absence from this thread. They're second only to the Beach Boys as my favourite American band of the sixties. In fact I like the Spoonful so much that I devoted the second post in last year's Vabosity's Third Anniversary Review Of The Thread entirely to them. This track has a certain naive charm that I find very appealing.

Urban Bassman, the poster who first submitted this track to the thread, described it as the perfect pop song. I completely agree with that statement, the perfect pop song is the perfect description.

First submitted to the thread in June 2010.
Perhaps the most obscure of the five tracks I’ve selected, but an absolute gem.

The Lovin’ Spoonful - Younger Girl (1965)
First submitted to the thread in July 2010.
The Critters had a minor UK hit single with this song in 1966 and the Hondells had a minor U.S. hit single with it in the same year. Both are fine covers and are well worth checking out. However, my preferred version is the original album track by the Lovin’ Spoonful.
