Check the Jacko thread, I described your banning, merely for stating an opinion contrary to what his fans wanted to read, as outrageous!

cheers!

funny thing is, i was trying to avoid another argument by pointing worshipers to the dedicated appraisal thread. apparently my posts 'werent constructive', but theres no point in arguing with the mods... 24 hours is nowt.

i think there needs to be a back up plan though IF people want to view my submission IF i get permabanned.

That's Junior Byles on a very early recording. The label says 'Chubby and The Honeysuckers'

I always thought that this great track was a big hit and therefore not eligible for the thread, but I just found out that it got no higher than no. 29, so it is actually eligible, and here it is:-

a Duke Reid production, with The Skatalites I assume (the b side is them)
Joe White did a bit of interesting stuff in the 70's, but Chuck is an oddity - although the label on the Treasure island release of 'Punch you down' says 'Chuck Berry', the Ska Beat release has 'Chuck Barry' and he is also linked with Chuck Josephs.

The b side of 'Hitch-hiker' is 'Humpity Dumpity (the Big Egg)' which together with the three listed songs were issued as an ep in 1964. And there's the main info available on them:
http://www.45cat.com/record/dfe8562
for anyone who can't read the tiny lettering on the ep sleeve, they were a session band put together by arranger Ivor Raymonde (quite an impressive list of artistes he worked with - Dusty, Dave Berry, The Bachelors, Billy Fury ...) http://www.45cat.com/45_arranger.php?ta=Ivor+Raymonde

As it says on the Youtube page, Albert Hammond sings the track. 'Most exclusive', a Kinks song, is actually by Los Cincos on the label (perhaps Philips finally realised the band's name was the Five Dicks ).
Allmusic adds this:
Hammond and Richard Cartwright eventually headed for England, where they briefly became a part of a band called Los Cincos Ricardos, through which they cut one single, "Most Exclusive Residence for Sale" b/w "It's All Over Now," the latter written by Hammond. One of the members contributing to that band's repertory was Mike Hazelwood.

Not a clue about her, although I have this track on a couple of compilations, one Northern Soul and one (rather naughty, arrrr me hearties ) in a big series of obscure 60's pop compilations I can't recall the title of right now.
Produced by Emil Dean who was in the Jack Good musical 'Catch My Soul'
EDIT: GRRRR, that bloody song is stuck on my mind like a limpet now

yeah i dont add the ';the', as the book doesnt and although its obvious in most cases, it isnt in others. i didnt know whether it was 'cinders' or 'the cinders' until i found the track.

i have trouble scrolling to read youtube comments, pc freezes (temporarily) think something technical isnt powerful enough... lol.

Good for you, like so many others, Michael Jackson did all his best work in the 1960s. It was all a long slow downhill slide after I'll Be There.

I can't say I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd. I won't say they're overrated, just not to my taste.

There are some Pink Floyd tracks that I like. "See Emily Play", a top ten hit single in 1967, is by far my favourite track by the band, but as it's not "rare" enough for this thread, here instead, from the same year, is my second favourite Pink Floyd track:-

Pink Floyd - Paint Box (1967)

The b side of 'Apples and oranges' which is a typical late Barrett Floyd song, could only really have been released in 1967 and is a bit cringeworthy these days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igv-7S4gP-k
With regard to the YouTube comment: the vid has Gilmour, but you can clearly tell from the vocals that it's Syd. It was recorded Sept/Oct 67, before Gilmour either stood in for a bit or joined.

Personally, I'd have gone for 'It would be so nice', which I still think is wonderful

Rather nicely, all the tracks mentioned have wonderful Rick Wright bits.

Italy's winning song ^^ in the 1964 Eurovision Song Contest, and one of my all time favourite Eurovision winners. The very same lady entered the contest again ten years later and came second to Abba with a song called "Si", another excellent track.

I'd hoped it was the lovely Kevin Ayers song of the same name, but it isn't (the credits are wrong).
General purpose stuff: From: Birmingham, England.Very little is known about Cinnamon Quill, a short-lived outfit out of Birmingham that was formed by vocalist/guitarist Bob Davies. Originally known as the Vacant Lot, the band changed their name to Cinnamon Quill in 1969. The band released two singles on the Morgen label before fading into obscurity.

Really had to scrat about for this, which is a surprise as it's a surf track and features on a number of albums ...
They're American (the label says 'Epic' recording, which certainly isn't a comment on the track ). They're from Milwaukee. According to http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...27eI9l2KO8-Y7w
The Rockin' Country style website has this as regionally released in the USA on different labels and the b side of 'Slippin' and slidin', but they often get the tracks the wrong way round and there's enough copies online to be sure this is the 'a' side.

I'm with you on that.
Must be their first release. They had an album in 1971 'Home lovin' hits'.that had 'Cracklin' Rosie, 'In the Ghetto' and 'My sweet Lord' on it. I won't link to the blog entry as I'm not sure of the rules, but someone there mentions they did Bowie's 'Oh you pretty things'. I gotta go hunting

Zilch. It's on Mercury, so they're American, but it's not the Spanky and Our Gang track from the same year (different credits) or the wonderful Velvet Underground song, also from the same year.

I'm utterly ashamed I don't know this one.
It's on John Peel's Dandelion label, so it's worth a fortune (well, £100). From Kevin Coyne's Wikipedia entry:
Joined by Dave Clague (bass, acoustic guitar, ex-Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah band. Coyne's band got an early break as a result of a demo heard by John Peel, who in 1969 signed them to his Dandelion Records label. At first billed as Coyne-Clague (an early Dandelion release erroneously named them just "Clague"), the band soon altered its name to Siren.
I still love the Siren album (even though I loathe Kevin Coyne's later work).

Blimey! That was a hard one
