according to my catalogue there were two versions, one with the jeff beck group (goo goo barabajagal (love is hot) / bed with me ) and one by donovan by himself (barabajagal/trudi) however, they both have the same record number - pye 7n 17778. i posted the one i could find that was credited to donovan only.

but im not sure i can tell the difference!

P.S. I heard a fair deal of his material when I was kid, but I most definitely did not come around on my own until after his passing a month ago and I couldn't feel anymore ashamed of how late I am, to me, we couldn't have lost a more precious sounding person.

Joe South composed it, but afaik Billy Joe Royal released the original version in 1967, then Joe South recorded it himself later as a track for the 1969 album "Games People Play".

I was unaware that he'd passed away. He wasn't a big star on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, so his sad passing didn't make the news over here.

RIP Billy Joe.

The more that I hear from him, the more that I regret not discovering him sooner. I wish that I could have met him. I've seen so many clips of him over at the You Tube website and I can honestly say that I don't think that I have ever seen a more happy looking person and oh what a voice that was on him!
