nonsense.... its 1054 on sunday 16th. ill not be back on until tomorrow by which time the count will be up from the current 386,126 . that proves that there is a market for rare 60's tracks, and people are interested. its obviously being viewed by people who have no account, but are interested in whats being posted.
5 days later and theres been 781 page hits... kinda proves my point.

no it doesn't... its clear that there are a lot of people viewing the thread, therefore it justifies my time in doing it. i wouldnt do it otherwise.

nearly 1,000 page hits a week... it might be by 1050 tomorrow morning, :P . theres a clear interest.

how about you keep me hanging on by vanilla fudge, a ponderously pompous band renowned for doing overlong and overwrought cover versions

more a hit in the USA i suppose.
Are you joking? This was probably the first ever example of a heavy rock record, absolutely ground breaking stuff. Carmen Appice was and still is an awesome drummer.

Here's the live version from 1967:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFabNBveHOk

With a much more recent performance in 2011, they still have what it takes:

Agree 100%.

I especially like "Flames" by Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera - a cracking track.

as a bonus, ive happened across this, which will feature on this thread in about 5 years time! lol

the syndicate of sound ' little girl'..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA8tUUrSTIw

now i mention this because in 1977 a pseudo punk group 'the banned' released it and it was one of my favs at the time.... erm, breaking my own rules massively heres the 77 cover for comparison - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM84-VENfjA

maybe theres an idea for a thread here..... obscure original tracks and possibly better known covers? probably been done...

I know the Banned version well, but prefer the one by the Syndicate of Sound, which I actually heard for the first time on this very thread! Someone like Vabosity or Randy Gibbons posted it about six years ago!

I think that idea for a thread you mention has already been done, but maybe is worth doing again.

An obvious example to be included on that thread is "I Think We're Alone Now". Some people on this forum probably believe the original is by Girls Aloud, and most others probably believe the original is by Tiffany. Very few are aware that the original (and best!) version dates back to the sixties. Here it is:-

I think the track was first posted about six years ago, which is hardly recent, so I wouldn't say you have a short term memory.

Some tracks I heard for the first time in the early days of the thread resonated with me and others did not. I'm sure I've posted tracks I thought were "new" (as far as this thread is concerned) that have probably been posted more than once before. Unfortunately, these days it's almost impossible to check because the DS Forum Search facility no longer works as well as it used to.
