The name Gob has come to mind, if that's any help.
I've You Tube'd it and can only find a modern punk band though. Unless there was a band called Gob back then? |

I think it's about time to contribute some more songs, otherwise this excellent thread will drop too far down the thread list and possibly be forgotten about.
Spanish Harlem by Ben E. King Hypnotic riff. Wonderful trumpet solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGd6CdtOqEE Get Together by The Youngloods There were quite a few hippie anthems in the late sixties; this is my particular favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4fWN...aynext_from=ML Wondrous Place by Billy Fury Billy Fury had some very big hits in the early sixties. I’m amazed to discover that this superb track was not one of them, getting no higher than 25 in the UK singles chart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGPbA9E8yy0 Warm Of The Sun by the Beach Boys I believe this was the B-side to the 1964 single Dance, Dance, Dance which failed to chart in the UK, which means that this brilliant song definitely qualifies for this thread. I know it’s been said a thousand times before, but I’ll say it again: Brian Wilson is an absolute genius! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_TcWUslfvE |

A song that is reasonably well known but was not a hit in the UK was the Velvelettes with Needle In A Haystack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VweadeTCvNA
One of the best sad songs ever was from the 60s by Jackie Trent: Where Are You Now My Love? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJLESaA_XrA |

Erm, can't really remember the song, which was why I was after the band name, but, I remember it sounding almost 90's Alternative Rock. Had a few strange (for it's time) sounds in. It was guitar based if I remember correctly, not heavy metal, but a lot heavier than more of the 60's guitar pop bands.
That's really all I know, a long show I know but thanks for helping. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kduHV...eature=related |

Absolute tragedy that this was never a hit over here for the Loving Spoonful. Probably one of the most perfect pop songs ever written.

These artists were big later in their careers but listen to these forgotten 60's classics
Elkie Brooks - Nothing Left To Do But Cry Slade - Wild Winds Are Blowing Robert Knight - Everlasting Love (the original version of The Love Affair 70's hit) And this little beauty - a US hit from 1968 recorded about 30 years after they first hit the charts Mills Brothers - Cab Driver |

I love Johnny Kidd And The Pirates but I've always had a soft spot for The Guess Who's version of Shaking All Over.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxuqU...eature=related Was really surprised when it turned up in an advert (for paint I think) last year. |

And for those of us old enough to remember The Playmates - Beep Beep. A Junior Choice favourite.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1c4Q...eature=related That is the American Version which sang about a cadillac and nash rambler. A European version was also recorded which substituted Limousine and Bubble Car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBfoXqt7w1M |

Crack in The World
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crack_in_the_World Dr. Steven Sorenson plans to tap the geothermal energy of the Earth's interior by means of a thermonuclear device detonated deep within the Earth. Despite dire warnings by fellow scientist Ted Rampian, Dr Sorenson proceeds with the experiment after secretly learning that he is terminally ill. This experiment causes a crack to form and grow within the earth's crust, which threatens to split the earth in two if it is not stopped in time. Its quite a good film and here it will be out on DVD very soon finally as it has not been on TV since the 90s. |
