First time I've heard that version. I really do like it.”

Have you ever the heard the Three Dog Night version of It's For You which creeps in as it was released in Jan 1969. It's probably my favourite version and got a lot of radio play at the time.

That's a new one on me, but I rather like it. Isn't Susan Singer Helen Shapiro's cousin?

Great version! When this thread began Three Dog Night's "It's For You" was one of the first tracks that came to mind, but then suddenly (and erroneously, it would seem) I got it into my head that the track was from the seventies, so didn't submit it, then totally forgot about it. Good to see it's finally made the thread.

The following tracks first featured in posts that I made to Pages 6 and 7 of this thread. However, the original clips have now been removed from Youtube, so here are some alternative clips.

The Contours - Do You Love Me (1962)

Françoise Hardy - All Over The World (1965)

The Lovin’ Spoonful - Full Measure (1966)

American Breed - Bend Me Shape Me (1967)

Here's an early record by Danny Hutton later of Three Dog Night. Good tune...

I prefer Francoise Hardy singing in French, but she she doesn't do a bad job here singing in English, and this is a lovely song.

Love that American Breed track - imho it's so much better than Amen Corner's version.

One of Dusty's best imho - why wasn't it a much bigger hit?

Mushymanrob, you haven't provided a link to the Rocking Berries track. Shall I do the honours?

Here's another great Motownesque track from Dusty...completely flopped in '67:
Dusty - What's It Gonna Be (1967)

Dave Dee always puts me in mind of wacky trousers. This lot made a gimmick of their strides as well:
The Koobas - You'd Better Make Up Your Mind (1966)

I LOVED the Idle Race! Here's my favourite track of theirs - gotta love the Brummie accent

[quote=Barney06;46003030]Hope it has not been posted before, but the Aretha Franklin version of Try A Little Tenderness from 1962, before the more famous Wilson Pickett offering. Sure sounds different with the string arrangement

Wasn't that Otis Redding?

For me, that piece is forever associated with the little old bearded man on the Simpsons auditioning for the B Sharps:

I used to know a bloke who thought they were singing "My white-thighed vicar"

'Take Me For A Little While' is such a superb song. I think my favourite of the many fine versions is the original by Evie Sands.

Evie Sands - Take Me For A Little While

Evie also did the original of 'I Can't Let Go' which of course was a big hit for The Hollies.

And why include "All Over The World" by Francoise Hardy when it's already included in a post (on the current page) by Vabosity and further commented on in a post (also on the current page) by myself?
