.....and following on from the wonderful "Theme One", here's some cheesy trumpet stuff from Nigel Hopkins (actually I love it really )

Check out the video - starts with Nige as fresh-faced 14-year-old ending up as (pause while counting on fingers) a 56-year-old man.

Another Barbara Lynn track, why she was not a superstar is a mystery. A cover of What'd I Say

How about this for a power ballad by the Quo? Vintage stuff

Oh, that is excellent! It's very reminiscent of Richard Berry's fantastic 1955 doo-wop original.

I love this song, so many brilliant covers in so many different styles. A reggae version by Toots and the Maytals from the early seventies is particularly good. I have to say, though, that my favourite version is still the best known one by the Kingsmen.

Agree it's a great song , was checking on Wiki , and The FBI were asked to investigate the record as being obscene even interviewing a member of The Kingsmen nothing came of it of course.

I love all the many versions of Louie Louie too.

The Lovin’ Spoonful - Do You Believe In Magic? (1965)

The Beatles - "Wait" from the Rubber Soul album
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O5w5h2T87c

To my eternal shame, I didn't know this was a Beatles song until I heard it by chance, years after it was covered by none other than Frankie Vaughan! Have tried to get hold of his version without success, would be interesting to hear it again but never mind.

Original version of Seasons in the Sun - so much better than Terry Jacks' awful bubblegum cover.

Definitely one of their better lesser known tracks imho. Great choice!

That's not really the original, which would have been sung in French by the song's Belgian composer, Jacques Brel, but it may be the original English language version. And yes, I have to agree, it's very much better than the version by Terry Jacks.

Here's another of what I consider to be one their better lesser known tracks, although when you think about it there can't be too many Beatles tracks than can be described as "lesser known".

The Beatles - She Said She Said

Here is the original 1961 version from Belgium's greatest ever songwriter:-

Curiosity got the better of me since my last post and I decided to check online to discover who actually did do the first English language version. It wasn't the 1968 version by the Fortunes, it was this one from 1964:-

Thanks Johnny but I do prefer the Fortunes version even though it's not the original

Here's another rarely-heard Beatles song, this time off the Help album. I bet you can tell me who did a cover version - at least I hope so because I can't remember!!

Love that one too!

Brian Ferry covered it in 1976.
Gary US Bonds in 1981.
Peter Cetera in 2001.

Confession:-
I cheated, I looked up who covered it on Wikipedia!
