Much prefer the Lulu track posted above to Shout, which is all that seems to get played .

From 1968 & only got to 94 in The US charts, with no UK release Living In The USA by The Steve Miller Band,

Don't know if this was top 20 or not but it's one of my favourite Four Tops tracks "Yesterday's Dreams". Beautiful harmonies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUt3Xm2qwO4

Agree re the Lulu track, proof she can sing as well as shout (no pun intended!)

Excellent song and as someone on Youtube noted
"....Motown. All the way back to the early days they left some of their best material on b-sides and album cuts, if they released them at all".

Here are some more twenties-style tracks from the sixties:-

Dorothy Provine - Don't Bring Lulu (1960)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjjRQwX1nGw

The Temperance Seven - Pasadena (1961)

If twenties-style music from the sixties is not your thing, don't worry, my next post to this thread, whenever that may be, will definitely contain sixties-style music from the sixties, and if sixties-style music from the sixties is not your thing either what are you doing viewing this thread?

Continuing Vabosity's first anniversary review of the thread.

I am up to Page 6 now which, just like Page 3, is an absolute treasure house of amazing music and, just like Page 3, getting it down to just five tracks was a very difficult task, but I got there eventually with the most eclectic combination of tracks I could come up with.

So, here's my selection from Page 6:-

The Who - Legal Matter
Originally submitted by Vabosity on 7th June 2010.

Double Six - Tickle Toe
Originally submitted by ohglobbits on 7th June 2010.

Judy Street - What
Originally submitted by Mr Wendal on 8th June 2010.

Cyril Davies & His R&B All Stars - Country Line Special + Chicago Calling
Originally submitted by Mike_1101 on 9th June 2010.

The Pentangle - Once I Had A Sweetheart.

Interesting - the last person to post to this thread was yours truly four days ago, and all I'm doing at the moment (and for the foreseeable future) is re-submitting tracks that have previously been on the thread (albeit a very long time ago). Perhaps there is not an inexhaustible supply of brilliant rare tracks from the glorious decade that was the sixties after all. No, what am I saying? - of course there is!

Anyway, here's my selection of five great tracks from Page 7 of the thread:-

Tommy Tucker- Hi Heel Sneakers
Originally submitted by Vabosity on 11th June 2010.

The Sonics - Since I Fell For You
Originally submitted by Vabosity on 11th June 2010.

The Animals - Club A Go Go
Originally submitted by Multimedia81 on 12th June 2010.

Helen Shapiro - Look Over Your Shoulder
Originally submitted by Capablanca on 13th June 2010.

The Yardbirds - Happenings Ten Years Time Ago

Angel Of The Morning by Merrilee Rush was played on SOTS this morning, my favourite version of the same song comes from PP Arnold .

Angel Of The Morning - PP Arnold

Angel Of The Morning was first recorded by Evie Sands, which was ignored, she also recorded the original version of I Cant Let Go , which was a hit for The Hollies

I Can't Let Go - Evie Sands

The Sonics - Since I Fell For You
Originally submitted by Vabosity on 11th June 2010.
Love the Sonics and love this track. The song itself was written in 1945 and there have been many excellent versions of it over the years in a variety of styles. The following fine version was a massive hit in the USA in 1963:-

Lenny Welch - Since I Fell For You (1963)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBDfju1F76M

We're all familiar with the Rolling Stones' 1964 chart topping version of "Little Red Rooster", but here's another brilliant version from the previous year: Sam Cooke on vocals, Ray Charles on piano, Billy Preston on electric organ and a song written by Willie Dixon - what more could you possibly want?

Sam Cooke - Little Red Rooster (1963)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwqfBED1yY0

Let's make it three 1963 tracks in a row and conclude with one that's long been a major guilty pleasure of mine:-

Ruby And The Romantics - Our Day Will Come (1963)

That's brilliant. I don't know if he recorded "Summertime" in the 1960s but here he is singing it in 1957 - too good to leave out.
