Jones, but some party music and the tune "Maroc 7" were done by Paul Ferris . Maroc 7 is a great tune, but unfortunately, no releases as far as I know. Several Shadows collections however have their cover version of Maroc 7, which is not bad. Might want to look here if you want to buy a copy |

Like the Sergio Mendes track off Vabosity's selection. Too bad he released crap after Brasil 66..
A selection off The Rock Machine Turns You On, the first ever sampler LP released in Britain by CBS records intending to expose underground tracks. We've already had Tim Rose's Come Away Melinda and Spirit's Fresh Garbage so here are three more.. Most pop track by them in Britain largely due to this album. Moby Grape - Can't Be So Bad 'Who's your daddy?' - a very American sounding Zombies. The Zombies - Time Of The Season Hypnotic summer song by The Byrds The Byrds - Dolphin Smile |

Last Sunday Tameside Radio played Herb Alpert's Mexican Shuffle. I can just about place it featuring in a British comedy film or a Saturday afternoon sports programme!

Very sad news that Jerry Leiber of Leiber & Stoller fame has passed away.
So many iconic songs over so many years. So in tribute and in keeping wit the thread (this may have gone through before) here is The Big Three with Some Other Guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mbj6do2t6E RIP Jerry - and many thanks for such wonderful music. |

Releasing records in 15 different languages there are numerous Conniie Francis records that could be considered rare, at least in the UK...

This was a big hit in 1966. I thought this was supposed to be for records that were great but weren't a hit or only a very minor hit.
i wonder how a general thread for 60's hits would fare?.. possibly not as well as this after the initial burst of 'whiter shade of pale', shout, i got you babe etc etc etc had been posted. |

Here are four fabulous tracks by The Association, one of my favourite American groups of the sixties. Each track is very different from the other three and all four tracks were singles that the Great British record buying public, in their lack of infinite wisdom, chose to ignore.
The Association - Along Comes Mary (1966) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ro3BC-e_XPo The Association - Cherish (1966) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89PFFY4JDNM The Association - Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies (1966) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WCcpKpUREs The Association - Windy (1967) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlqwpq7xycU |

The 1910 fruitgum company from 1969 "When we get married".
For some reasons (apart from the lyrics) it reminds me of a number of Oasis songs. ![]() And, amazingly different, from the 'kings of bubblegum', famous for 'Simon says' an edgy accomplished progressive rock track!. also 1969. |

Thanks for the memory of that one. I had completely forgotten it, but found that I could sing along when hearing it again. Strange song though. As you say who on earth is Craise Finton Kirk, the singer looked a bit of a pranny too. Bit like he was trying to copy Herman or something.
i was ten to the time it was released, so must have been a 'radio hit', played alot but never charted. thats how i know tracks like 'the days of pearly spencer' and 'solitary man'.. |
