The score for "Maroc 7" (1967) was written by Kenneth V. Jones, but some party music and the tune "Maroc 7" were done by Paul Ferris .
Maroc 7 is a great tune, but unfortunately, no releases as far as I know.

Several Shadows collections however have their cover version of Maroc 7, which is not bad.

This was a big hit in 1966. I thought this was supposed to be for records that were great but weren't a hit or only a very minor hit.

indeed that is correct, my thoughts when starting the thread was for 'non top 20' tracks, radio hits, or top 20 that never get played.... there are a few top 20 hits that no one knows.

i wonder how a general thread for 60's hits would fare?.. possibly not as well as this after the initial burst of 'whiter shade of pale', shout, i got you babe etc etc etc had been posted.

Here are four fabulous tracks by The Association, one of my favourite American groups of the sixties. Each track is very different from the other three and all four tracks were singles that the Great British record buying public, in their lack of infinite wisdom, chose to ignore.

I'm familiar with those tracks by the Birds, but the other three tracks are really good finds.

The 1910 fruitgum company from 1969 "When we get married".

For some reasons (apart from the lyrics) it reminds me of a number of Oasis songs.

And, amazingly different, from the 'kings of bubblegum', famous for 'Simon says' an edgy accomplished progressive rock track!. also 1969.

Thanks for the memory of that one. I had completely forgotten it, but found that I could sing along when hearing it again. Strange song though. As you say who on earth is Craise Finton Kirk, the singer looked a bit of a pranny too. Bit like he was trying to copy Herman or something.

I love all four of these songs, but even more I love Time For Living by The Association, which wasn't a hit either. I could never understand why they didn't make it here.

i heard it on brian matthews s.o.t.s several years ago... but i was driving so couldnt quite get the artist/title. i too had totally forgotten it but when i heard it instantly recognised it.

i was ten to the time it was released, so must have been a 'radio hit', played alot but never charted. thats how i know tracks like 'the days of pearly spencer' and 'solitary man'..
