Methinks it is time to stop this thread languishing on Page 2, and get it back to the top of Page 1 where it belongs!

Hi Heel Sneakers by Tommy Tucker
One of my all-time favourite Rhythm ’n’ Blues tracks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD57xU3zumI&feature=fvw

One by Harry Nillson
Great track from 1968 - my favourite song by this guy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nB5VxPOoio

Since I Fell For You by the Sonics
In a previous post I said that the Sonics were arguably the best of all the American sixties garage bands.
This ballad is very untypical, not really like anything else they recorded, which is perhaps why I like it so much.

Cool Jerk by the Capitols
Classic dance track from 1966.

The Velvelettes' Needle in a Haystack became one of my all-time fave songs on a very meaningful day about 5 years ago. I cannot understand how it was either not released as a single here or was not a hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VweadeTCvNA

The B side of the Animals' Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood was the very quirky Club A Go-Go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0-7E4D38F8

No sacrilege intended, but Girls Aloud copied the intro for their hit Biology. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBPtP4t2J1k

While I find Girls Aloud ok, this has been my fave song of theirs and the only song of theirs to be one of my faves of the year in question!

BBC Radio Leeds do an eclectic 60s show with Diana Luke from 9pm to 1am on Saturday evenings. I am listening to it at present, at least between tracking down these songs on Youtube!

I always think of 'Needle In a Haystack' as one of the quintessential 'Songs of the Sixties'.........well of the 60s i remember anyway..........along with Jimmy Mack and Dancing in the Streets.

I'm surprised it wasn't a hit...........it was huge around the circles I moved in !

The BBC Radio Leeds 60s show I mentioned tonight played Ivy League's Funny How Love Can Be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KYSdeshp-c

I often ponder when I hear Zager & Evans with In The Year 2525. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhNM2K8cmU8 I wonder what music will be like in the year 2525!!

Back from a week in Cornwall and glad to see this thread still going strong.

Here are a few minor hits by big name acts that I enjoy...

Herman's Hermits - Museum (a Donovan song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4RQdhfBXRc

Cliff Richard - I'll Come Running (another early Neil Diamond song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZxLhoBUesg

Helen Shapiro - Look Over Your Shoulder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=321yMAIkoNU

Freddie & The Dreamers - A Little You (their best single - not on Youtube)

Georgie Fame - In The Meantime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeskrpxZZvk

Yardbirds - Happenings Ten Years Time Ago (early psych)

Never heard this one before. I like it a lot. It must have been really frustrating back in 1963 for Helen Shapiro to be headlining a tour with the Beatles as a support act, only to find near the end of the tour that they had become the headliners and she the support act. I think this may have brought her pop career to a premature end, which is a pity, because she had a great voice.

I'm running out of ideas too, so the idea I've just had for this particular post may just be clutching at straws.

Here are four different versions of the same song, all from 1965. The song is the Ray Davies composition "I Go To Sleep", and the versions are by Cher, Solihull beat combo the Applejacks, German singer Marion and, finally, the original by the Kinks.

I have to confess that by far my favourite version of this song is by the Pretenders. This is the only instance I can think of where I prefer an Eighties cover of a Sixties song to the original.

The Funk Brothers members,
only now getting their just deserts
Ureil Jones, Benny Benson, Earl Van Dyke to mention a few.

Also my choice outside of Motown would be
Felice Taylor ~ I Feel Love Comin On

Another Belter is
Laura Greene's Moonlight Music and You

RIP Christian...sad to hear that news.

His version of Phil Och's 'Changes' is fantastic and fits in nicely here.

Helen Shapiro also recorded a pretty good version of "Walk on By", on an LP in 1964.

Ahhh, i could talk about the Funk Brothers all day!

Standing in the Shadows of Motown is one of my all time fave music docs - that and The Last Waltz...

Speaking of which and by way of a link - here is utter legend Rick Danko (a big JJ fan) and the rest of The Band with Long Black Veil

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMbVXYQpJV8

Thanks for Felice Taylor - love that track.

I played Laura Greene at a BBQ the other day and someone pipped up 'It's the KFC music'

...they got a badly burnt sausage!

First of all, the 1962 original (and imo the best) version of the song that Brian Poole and the Tremeloes would take to the top of the UK charts in the following year.

Do You Love Me by the Contours
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g-1N...eature=related

Next, two rather pleasant songs (one sung in French, the other sung in English) from the rather pleasant Francoise Hardy.

Tous Les Garcons Et Les Filles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOd_5...eature=related
All Over the World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R95FPVPz15Q

Finally, two Hollies tracks from 1967.
The first a minor hit, the second only released as a single outside the UK.

King Midas In Reverse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_-XSGcjIhM
Dear Eloise
