I'm a huge traditional country fan ie 50's/60's/70's rather than modern country and that song's famous in country circles as being sung by Charley Pride.

Later of course a huge No.1 in 1981 for Soft Cell. For any young 'uns who may read the thread, she was Marc Bolan's girlfriend and was driving when he was killed in 1977.

I know what you mean about the Essex track. I think it's more of a good vibe than a stunning song. I think they did the original of 'A Walking Miracle' as well, which was a hit for Limmie & The Family Cooking in the 70s.

I'm sure you knew that The Smiths did a version of this song as the B-side to "Ask" (it's also on the "Louder Than Bombs" & "The World Won't Listen" compilations.)
