Thanks for that!

And yet again Digital Spy manage to distort a story Its not on later because of low ratings last week - Over the Rainbow has finished and Eurovision is on

Probably a good idea, given its performance last week.

it's performance last week had nothing to do with the time slot, it's been in the same sort of time slot much of the series. it was the super hot weather that effected the ratings across the board, and compared to ITV with their sub 2 million viewers Doctor Who actually rocked it, , especially consider the share that DW got was almost identical to the prior week - which effectively proves my point - less people watching TV in general, not the time slot AT ALL.

And I think you'll find once timeshift comes in it will have performed pretty much okay actually.

And as webslark pointed out, this times slot was planned and confirmed over a week ago, DS are as usual using lowest common denominator journalism that even The Sun would blush at to try and make a story.

Anyway, it'll be back to being a little earlier after this week - something around the 6.45pm slot.

Exactly Muttley, I dont think theres such a thing as a must see programme when actually broadcast these days with all the alternatives available. I always record anyway to watch over at some point.

I agree that it has nothing to do with the viewing figure as to how successful a show is currently. Sure, you can say that the show had its lowest figure since 2005, this is undeniable. Nonetheless, the more crucial aspect of the audience share remained pretty much the same at the 30% mark.

What journalists and TV execs often need to remember (and I know the BBC rightfully pointed it out on this occasion) is the greater significance of audience ratio....

watching bbc1 for doctor who : watching alternative channel

I think that even last week this ratio remained very strong

I do think a later time slot helps on hot days - gives people more time to get back home from the beach

Have the iPlayer ratings for last week come out yet?
