We're in the exact same boat mate. Fell in love with that song due to the Coca-Cola advert.

Currently got a hold of Troubador, not checked it out yet, but looking forward to it based on that song.

It wasn't a football song originally, it was actually about his native country Somalia and it's really meaningful the original is on youtube but he changed the lyrics for World cup and it is inspiring also!

He's featured on a couple of tracks in Keane's new EP 'Night Train'

He's pretty awesome, Wavin' Flag was number1 in the Canadian Charts when it was first released months ago

its a good song and very very catchy...

however since its the only song my brother insists on playing all the bloody time i now cannot stand to hear it anymore as it just gets on my nerves. he ruined it for me.

Yeah, Stop For A Minute

Finally, Keane have given up on the whole "Let's be a boring band" act! They are actually getting quite good.

I think they may have started "being good" on the last album (I don't know for certain as I've never heard it in it's entirety)

However, Spiralling is the one song I know off that previous album and it's a fantastic choooooon.

He has two albums: The Dusty Foot Philosopher and Troubador. I've only heard Wavin' Flag and Stop For A Minute though, so I'm gonna have to check his stuff out

Ooh yeah, forgot about Spiralling. Twas a good song.

Actually, Keane are alright, they've had a few good songs (A Bad Dream, This Is the Last Time, Somewhere Only We Know, Everybody's Changing), it's just I can name a ton more exciting bands.

Like most I only got him into him because of Wavin' Flag.

One thing that puzzles me though, is there seems to be two versions of the song, there's a version where he sings "And then it goes back".

But there's another one where he just says "And wave your flag".

Which one is being used for the world cup?

I think i like the first one better.

There are a few versions I think. There's the one with will.i.am and David Guetta, then there's the Coca-Cola celebration mix, and then there's the original. The original is my favourite version.

Going by the original version mentioned by LucyKay, for those who are interested, here is the all star version of the song to benefit Haiti. It's the Canadian version of We are the World or Everybody Hurts.
