In my opinion, Christina's comeback song Not Myself Tonight is a real banging tune! Not an instantly catchy number, but a real grower. The louder it's played the better. Fab video too. Yet NMT didn't even make the top 10!

Kylie is also due to make her comeback. I'm not liking All The Lovers. It's only ok & her voice is annoying in parts. Yet no doubt it will go straight to number 1, or at worst top 3.

I reckon Kylie has a bit of the Cheryl Cole magic - she is so loved by the British public (nation's sweetheart/princess persona) that no matter how average the material she releases is, it will still do reasonably well.

Whereas with Christina, I personally don't think she comes across all that well in interviews etc (she waffles on a lot about being a strong woman, sexual, empowered etc - it's a bit boring at this stage with all the psychobabble!), yet her material is strong & her voice is amazing. I bought Stripped on the strength of Dirrty before the album took off, it didn't chart well on its release, so maybe the same thing will happen with Bionic. Stripped ended up hanging around the top 10 for months.

For the record, I do like some of Kylie's stuff. I'm just not that bothered about her new single. Maybe the album will have better material on it. Really excited about Christina's Bionic though, can't wait to play WooHoo really loud!

Opinions please peeps.

Christina has been away for a long time, I believe that is the reason, honestly. NMT did well considering it had vitually no promo.
She just needs to get into promoting and she will in the next month. Expect to see her on Jonathan Ross next week and I'm sure more UK promo is lined up. ALL the promo for Bionic won't be for 1 or two months. She'll be milking it for all it's worth in the next year and more. Album out June 7th

There are several Christina threads on the first page. Couldn't this have just gone into one of them?

I don't rate Christina much but I liked that performance on American Idol and the song. Will be interesting to see how she gets on with Jonathan Ross next week.

Can't wait for Bionic, I pre-ordered it weeks ago on play.com

Hope you're right. I don't think all the silly Lady GaGa comparisons are helping either, with Christina being accused of ripping her off. Christina is being provoked into bringing out her defensive side, it must get irritating, after all Christina has been around for years. There is room for both artists.

Kylie is a much bigger name in the UK than Christina. Sorry to say but Xtina just doesn't have the profile nor the fanbase to come back with a lead single like 'Not Myself Tonight' and expect it to go top ten. She's not like Beyonce, Pink, Rihanna or even Avril Lavigne who can go away for a while and return with plenty of hits and sell on profile alone. She's been very hit and miss with her singles history and aside from Stripped her album sales haven't been *that* spectacular. She gets alot of hype online but I genuinely don't think the general public care much about Xtina. She needs alot of promo with some interviews so the public can warm to her a bit more.

It's crazy how much good one performance on AI has done. And there will be more performances for people to get their teeth into, she hasn't even started yet.

ALL those you have mentioned...honestly when do they even take a break to even judge how they'd fair? Have they been out 4 years at time between albums? NO.
The reason why they constantly churn out albums is the fear they'd have of not being as relevant. Xtina doesn't have that fear her talent speaks for itself, whereas those you mentioned depend on staying relevant to be successful.

AND anyway the reason she cancelled her US tour is because thankfully she realised how much promo she needs to put into the album before touring because she needs to make herself known again.
She'll be promoting to reignite the interest and rightly so, she has been away for a while.

That's awesome as she never got no airplay. It may stay in the charts for sometime and sometimes they re enter after album releases etc.

As for the US , that's a little dissapointing. I hope she does release you lost me.

Not My Self Tonight lacks that special something that All The Lovers has. It's VERY unoriginal but that deosen't means it's not a good song.

All The Lovers isn't exactly the best song ever but It's a marvelous pop song that sounds different from anything that's in the top 40 atm.

Both Kylie and Chrstina are in my opinion bith known for choosing the wrong singles as the lead singles. 2 Hearts - Kylie and Dirty - Christina.

Christina needs to bring out an amazing song, Not My Self is merely average, as was Dirty, i hope she does What she did with Stripped and backs up the okay first single with an AMAZING second single (Beautiful).

If she releases that Woohoo song, i can she this album sinking into the water.

I think you just summed up Beyonce pretty well there.

Beyonce could go away for years and comeback and still sell. She has the talent and the fanbase.

Christina's comeback has got off to a troubled start. Having now heard the album I think Elastic Love should have been the comeback single but I'm not concerned about her success at the minute. I think Bionic will underperform for the first month or so but as soon as a ballad like You Lost Me comes she will be fine over here and her album sales will do great.

Although it should be said. Not Myself Tonight got to 12 with zero promotion, zero airplay and hardly no video play. So it makes you question how well it could have done with actual promotion and radio backing. So I wouldn't really write Christina off.

But I think Kylie is a different matter. I think All The Lovers is terrible, very dated and I'd be surprised if it goes top 10 itself.

WTF?

Beyoncé has released 3 albums!

Beyonce hasn't been off the scene for 12 years. She was the face and sound of Destiny's Child so has always been here.

You Lost Me is lyrically really bad, espically when you compare it to the likes of beauiful, fighte and the AMAZNG hurt, it's bland and dull.
YES she sung it well on American Idol, but Woohoo and You Lost Me are just not up to scratch.
