Formula 1 Series Link Error
FYI - the F1 series link appears to have gone straight to the race and skipped qualy. Probably not a major issue but it might be worth checking your boxes tomorrow.
I'd guess it's a BBC screw-up. At first I thought maybe my HDR had picked up bad habits from my 9200T but no. The entry is sat in the schedule for tomorrow. FWIW - I use padding rather than accurate record. A last question - the HDR doesn't seem to support instant record - is that correct? I had to fire up my Sky HD box and record it on that instead. |

If you mean the Humax Foxsat HDR then yes it *does* support instant record. Just press the Record button.

You seem to be having a rather unusually difficult time with your Humax with lots of problems, each one of which requires you to revert to you sky HD box and then come here and tell us about it. Looking at the list of equipment in your services and the time you've been a member of this site (and you've been on the Freesat+ forum at least since I came here), it seems extremely strange that you need to ask how to perform one of the most basic functions the Humax is capable of. |

To be fair, I just tried to start an instant record on my Foxsat and it does seem to be more a sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't thing. Took three goes before I could see it was actually recording. The feedback is atrocious, you are never sure it has worked or not until you go into the schedule and have a look for the active recording.

Strange - it ignored me when I tried that. Pressing [Ok] just took me to the channel of course.

Yes, of course you can instant record.
You seem to be having a rather unusually difficult time with your Humax with lots of problems, each one of which requires you to revert to you sky HD box and then come here and tell us about it. The handful of issues I've experienced have all been attributable to the broadcaster or else trivial. In fact not being able to instant record is something I'd regard as trivial because I so very, very rarely want to do that. So get off your soap box and calm down. If there's one thing that might lead me to be critical of the HDR it's fanbois like you jumping down my throat for no reason. |

Instant record works while viewing the channel not while viewing the epg. So from the epg it's OK then the record button. If you press a 2nd time you can change the recording duration from it's default of the end of the existing programme. Same procedure works in non-freesat mode
At the risk of getting another flaming from the resident fanboi i might suggest Humax improve that aspect of their UI if/when they release another version of it. With Sky [Record] means do it now - no matter where you press it and you get immediate feedback. Gosh. An aspect of Sky's EPG that is actually better than the HDRs. Tbh that's a rarity. The only other one I can think of is the blesséd [Opt+] key. In all other respects it's miles ahead of Sky. As for the series link oddity - I'm on BBC Oxford so I suppose it could be a regional thing. It's still strange though. It's definitely on series link and definitely only created a timer for the race. |

Cool. Well thanks for the constructive responses anyway. I guess if I'd had time to muck about I might have got it to work but it was quicker and simpler to go the Sky route.

Did you know that you can display a programmes series and prog crid codes in prog info by turning on an option in one of the secret menus. Using this you can easily see what will be included in a series recording reservation Enter the diagnostics menu, then press RED GREEN YELLOW BLUE GREEN YELLOW Blue in succession. Any programme carrying the same series crid and a different prog crid should be treated as a seperate episode |

I actually wish on my Sky + the race and qualifying were seperate as I only want to record the race on series link and not record the qualifying.

Another change this week
F1 Race (European) has changed channels from BBC1 to BBC2 on Sunday. This seems to be because BBC have suddenly acquired the rights to show a certain World Cup match on Sunday. I wonder why?
I checked my scheduled recording and have discovered I would have recorded Eastenders which is not quite what I wanted. Please check your schedules too!

![]() I did so on Budget Day and found that Jan's Soap was changed to 'Review of Budget' in the Series Record.. I thought .."That's nice.. I'll watch that later to get up to date"..Silly ME ![]() ![]() Later that night.. I switched on the 'REVIEW' and saw..[And there had been no power cuts ]'Rcording Failed Unknown Reason'.. How can i trust anything/anyone again that LIES to me ..so blatantly ?Stan |

Its very annoying that the BBC don't set it up a series linked event when they move the race or qualifying to BBC2. As far as I am aware the same SERIES CRID can be used across different channels.

As you can see from my thread I appear to still have a clash even though I have only one recording scheduled during the F1 race

It's a fair point, I have seen this one before. Sky users expect the epg to start an instant recording from the epg for any channel that the programme has already started. As you know know the hdr at least will only schedule future recordings from the epg. Not sure but it may be a Freesat+ spec thing rather than a Humax implementation.

Any programme carrying the same series crid and a different prog crid should be treated as a seperate episode every day. It has a Series CRID by no program CRID which I surpose is as specified - [Same Series Crid - Different Program Crid] I don't surpose the free sat specs say what to do in this situation but I would suggest to limit recodings to the same channel. |
