They have to bring back Rory

I just remembered a line from Amy's Choice...

Amy: This can't be the real world. Rory's not here.

My theory is that, despite the Doctor's assurance at the end of that episode that they were back to reality, they're still in a dream...

But if it's not...

RORY!!!

Actually the real problem was all the dithering with people saying protracted goodbyes - without that they would have been well gone before he got killed.

Quite right. They should have got the hell out of there! But, like I said in another thread, I seem to be in the minority, in that I never warmed to Rory and I don't care about him.

Given that this is a forum dedicated to Dr Who, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that those who haven't seen the episode yet to avoid the forum if they don't want to risk seeing spoilers.

I was sad that they killed off Rory; he was a very engaging character and made a good companion. But now that they have, I hope they let him stay dead. I've had enough of companions going and coming back.

Anyway, it is still the day before their wedding
I remember Amy saying that it can always be the day before their wedding.

Can't help but think that we were all MEANT to prefer Rory to Amy to get this reaction when he was bumped off.

I always had a sneaking suspicion that he was going to turn out to be the "red shirt" though.

They don't HAVE to do anything. He's a character and at the end of the day everyone dies.

Besides I was never really a fan and I didn't really warm to him. So I couldn't really care less.

Hungry Earth/Cold Blood is set in 2020 and at the beginning of last week's episode we see (for some bizarre reason) the future 2020 Amy and Rory! Remember, the Doctor looks across the field and sees them.

The writer wanted to tell us Rory was alive in ten years time however he then proceeds to kill him off in 2010 creating a bit of a time paradox or two alternate time lines or er.. something else involving lots of space/time thingy stuff.

Time is in flux. It can be changed, people can die. All the people that the Doctor visits throughout time as he is ;fixing' the universe- Rory is just another casualty.

Still think he should be back because it is still the day before their wedding.
And, yes, in 2020 there is the Doctor seeing them together, so that's all right, all is well

And someone can't be killed off two weeks' running, whether or not in a dream

Dunno about Fringe - evil counterparts (often with goatee beards) in parallel universes have been around since at least StarTrek TOS.
I am liking the idea of a leather-clad evil Amy though - presumably much in the style of alt Kira in DS9

Edit - just remembered 'Section Leader' Liz Shaw in "Inferno" - nice in a neo nazi kind of style

That's what I was thinking too!!!!

I really enjoyed the relationship between The Doctor & Rory. I was disappointed with his death. I was very anti him in The Eleventh Hour, but changed my opinion since he started to travel with The Doctor & Amy. He definitely balanced things for me - I didn't feel any connection with him & Amy, but he was great with 11.

Yes, Rory is supposed to be back in two more episodes (someone posted somewhere).

I'd still rather Rory was a companion, too

Interesting, Vincent thought she had lost someone and saw she was crying; also, the Doctor called him Rory.

but
Spoiler
the actor is back for the last 2 epsiodes, so he does come back

and also - the engagment ring seen by the doctor when he was on the floor of the Tardis will come up again I think. If everything about him didnt exist, then the ring box wouldnt either.

I also surprised the Doctor didnt regret and weep at bit more when Rory died. he has had issues in the past of various compainion deaths, "its all my fault" blah blah.

Shall I see him again this Saturday?

Spoiler
The Saturday after next.

Apparently it's some sort of copy rather than the real Rory. It'll be nice to see him again but I s'pose a copy would only be a one-off character, not one that could come back permanently as a companion
