I'd be willing to bet my house that the ring will be used as some kind of plot device to bring Rory back.

Should it not even exist now that Rory cannot have existed to buy one?

I'm pretty sure there was a clear shot of a little red box in the tardis...

But the box was shut.......

So the theory is that the box was the Doctor's and the ring is now missing?

Thats true and I think 11 realised it too when he was looking at it whilst on the floor. So if the ring/box still exists then so does Rory.

Presumably protected by the TARDIS.
So does this mean if it leaves the TARDIS it would either cease to be, or

Oooh. Yeah the thing about him taking off the ring seemed weird at the time. Obviously fitted in for a plot. Either something needed to bring him back or perhaps the only thing which can jog Amy's memory so she remembers him?
Can't believe he has potentially 'fake-died' twice in the space of a couple of weeks!

It is the engagement ring, not the wedding ring as Amy was wearing it and they are yet to be married. Just thought I would point that out.

I also agree, the existence of the ring indicates that either Rory, the Master or even the Rani are still alive.

Yup, think that is the reason it was shown in The Hungry Earth, one bit of Rory's life/timeline still exists as it's been left unnafected in the Tardis...something like the 2nd Doctors recorded in the 3 Doctors getting stuck in teh Tardis force field generator perhaps

Spoiler
Arthur Darvill is in the finale, both episodes. He was seen filming at Stonehenge dressed in Roman Soldier attire

I suspect the red ring box becomes the Pandorica - Pandora's box was something that never should have been opened; which could be true of the ring box which now contains a paradox.

So if all Rory's stuff in the TARDIS is protected and still exists despite the fact that he's gone from Amy's memory, then what happens when she goes back to the room they presumably shared and discovers his old socks, etc?? She'll flip surely at discovering some unknown guy's stuff in her room?...

But presumably in her head it will all make sense. There will be some explanation in her head that says they belong to the Doctor or something.

he will no doubt come back. I can't stand all these fake-deaths that are becomming the norm in sci-fi. It totally devaules the death scenes.

I like this!!

I wonder how all the

could be connected with this?

Sorry to be pedantic, but it's not actually a wedding ring. It's an engagement ring.
GilaGora

Yeah alright, it's an engagement ring, I get it! Sheesh...
