Does the Doctor remember?

Does the Doctor remember Rory? Clearly Amy doesn't but i think there was a level of ambiguity to his response, particularly when he said 'are you OK?' towards the end.

Certainly Rory was part of Amy's world but he wasn't part of the Doctors.

Yes, The Doctor does still remember, I felt it was fairly implicit in the episode that this was the case.

Yes he remembers.

I didn't think he looked in the slightest like he didn't care. He was trying to make Amy remember, but after she has forgotten, to tell her about Rory would have been pointless. He was trying to hide his feelings from her, but even she noticed something was wrong. I thought Matt portrayed a man with a sad secret brilliantly.

Is the fact the Doctor can remember to do with him being a Time Lord or is it because of something we haven't yet had explained to us. Surely if the crack in time erases memory he should forget Rory as well......?

It's something to do with the fact that he isn't from Rory's timeline and planet. Amy remembered the Clerics in FaS because she had never really been part of their timeline before, and she was from a different time.

Although knowing Moffat, I'd be surprised if that was the full story....

Yes, I'm sure there'll be a big twist of some epic nature to come to explain all these things. Must admit the crack in time thing cropping up every week was beginning to bore me slightly but it's kind of becoming intriguing now. Definitely one of the better season arcs of recent years.

He was able to put his hand in the crack, survive that and get something back from it. That does make him a bit special, remembering things isn't such a big stretch. Although it can also suggest it's his doing, his "magic" so to speak.

I think the Doctor has a photographic type memory. He seems to remember past events, technical information, names of aliens, planets etc. I'm sure he'll remember whatshisface dying.

I suppose The Doctor has shown to be immune from Time Events before. Take Part Six of The Invasion of the Dinosaurs where he was able to move when the time thingey was activated while everyone else was frozen so I suppose it's a natural thing he isn't affected by these types of things, which brings it back to the Time Lord thing again.

Plus why could the doctor part his hand into the crack, but when the light was on Rory the doctor said once the light has touched you, you cant get away from it

The doctor can see through time. How things are, how they could be, how they must not be etc etc. So him remembering Rory is not a great leap - in my opinion.

But in simpler terms yeah, the Doctor and Rory are from different planets, different times. So the same rules apply that applied for Amy remembering the churchy soldiery types from the Weeping Angels episodes...

I thought this as well so I watched that bit again. It isn't the light that is the problem it is the 'time energy' within the crack. If that catches up with you then you are erased from memory. The light and the time energy are two different things
