Foxsat HDR - iPlayer option disappeared
Hi guys,
I have a Humax Foxsat HDR on which I had been using the BBC iPlayer (both in the original beta and then via the TEXT menu) for some time. About 1 month ago BBC iPlayer disappeared from the menu, and now the main menu just says "BBC iPlayer is coming to Freesat HD - 7001" and that page shows information. It is the same on the text and red button on BBC1, BBC2, BBC HD and I am assuming the same on the other BBC channels. - My sofware version is U7.51 - When I try for a software update it says "New software is not found" - I have switched off (and unplugged) the box for 10 minutes and turned back on. - My Media library is 95% full Has anyone else experienced this, and can offer some advice on how to get iPlayer back? Cheers, David |

This might indicate that the network connection is not working. Check the device has a network connection and check to see if a IP address present in the Network settings. DCHP is the recommendation but some use Manual and add there own IP address. When its working you should see after pressing the Red Button 'Connecting' flash up on the screen and then the Menu appears. You should then be able to select iPlayer. Dan. |

Yeah, most likely is that your network connection isn't working. It doesn't appear if the network doesn't work.

Does this mean iPlayer is available for everyone with this Humax freesat box, even if they didn't install the beta version of iPlayer?
Must say i havn't seen it mention a new software update, but havn't plugged an ethernet cable in yet either... |

iPlayer is available for everyone. Just plug a network lead in to your router and it appears on the red button.

Hi
I've been trying to use the BBCi player via freesat and I can choose the programme but it will not load or play, it locks up and says (loading) top right of the screen. I contacted Freesat who told me that the BBC had a problem with the BBCi player via Freesat. Anyone have any more info please. Thanks Mike |

Does it still not work? There was a problem, but as far as I know it's cleared now.

Must say i havn't seen it mention a new software update, but havn't plugged an ethernet cable in yet either... and it has been temperamental of late... iPlayer team have said that the Freesat version often gets the wrong URLs for the video streams! Seems they do not use the standard iPlayer management system for it, but have some custom tool which is not reliable. |

Finally got round to trying out the iPlayer on my HDR yesterday. Got the menu item under the red button OK, was able to browse around no trouble at all - all listings present, but any attempt to play anything was greeted with an error - can't recall the exact text now but it was basically saying a network error has occured, please try again. Tried again assorted times - same result.
Think I'll stick to using the PC for now. |

Thanks chaps - sounds like it's an occasional 'feature' then....
I'll try it again some time and see if it's behaving. Can't see it can be the router - iPlayer works fine on the PCs and PS3 connected to the same place (well, they used to work OK....) |

Just out of interest as anyone tried using iplayer through a LAN from a shared internet connection? i was wondering how well it worked or if it did? i have had results from PC's but was wondering if the Foxsat would be able to distinguish the connection from a desktop. any helpers? |

I do get the odd problem from time to time (mostly timeouts) but then again it is in Beta. |
