This series has been the only series that I have watched only 3 episodes.

Just proves how poor things have got as I am no longer excited by it.

Only last week's ratings were lower than normal.

Do you consider yourself the barometer of what makes a good programme?

the ratings have been excellent overall. Bad week last week due to the weather, reasonable rally this week, hopefully business as usual next week.

Honestly what is it with people on here?

Final ratings to date:

episode 13 6.91: 8.22: 8.62:10.57
Average--- 7.95: 7.71: 7.55: 8.05

Series 5 has the:

second highest ratings for a series opener.
third highest ratings for the second episode of a series.
fourth highest ratings for the third episode of a series
highest ratings for the fourth episode of a series
second highest rating for the fifth episode of a series
second highest rating for the sixth episode of a series
third highest rating for the seventh episode of a series

Notes:

1.series 5 figures include simultaneous HD viewing figures
2. series 5 episode 3 did not have a simultaneous HD showing. It did however get 0.38m viewers later in the evening. Total audience for that day was 8.2 million”

eta: final figures for The Hungry Earth out Mon/Tue this week, Cold Blood the following.

I'd estimate final ratings of 6 million for the former and 7 million for the latter, both of which would be far from bad.

Just looking at your figures Muttley, where the hell does the extra 1 million + come from on the last episode of the last series. Do people just watch the last episode and nothing else?!!!!!!

Yes it got another series commissioned and the ratings have been the best since series 1.

Not one episode this series has been under 7 million.

And that's very good.

In that case, it was hell of a good cliffhanger to have, even though I suspect most of us would have guessed Tennant wasn't going anywhere in that last episode, Would have been a bit of a unexpected goodbye wouldn't it?!!!!

Sorry, meant unemotional goodbye! Lol!

well I expect the final ratings for The Hungry Earth will be, but that's just a blip, which we get every year. It frustrates me no end that people seem to forget this! It's also quite sad that when the show is rating well it passes without comment from most people, but as soon as there is a little slip we get tons of knee jerk reactions from people proclaiming the show will be cancelled based on it!

Much as I have problems with this serie(which I'm not going into again! lol!) I'm still pleased it's getting good ratings. As you say, there'll always be a blip and last weekend the weather was brilliant so it shouldn't be unexpected.

And I think some people were making assumptions about David Morrissesy too quickly! Think it was all part of a cunning ploy to get us to think he was the new Doctor, even before Tennant had announced his resignation........

sky and virgin recordings are factored in to the final ratings if viewed in the first week. On line viewing on iplayer are currently not, though iplayer data is included in the unoffical total reach, which includes the final ratings, first week repeats and iplayer views.

iPlayer is included with the overnight ratings though

iplayer isn't included in the official ratings at all except those that view it on the virgin iplayer service, and even then it is included in the final ratings not overnights, it would be physically impossible to include iplayer ratings in with overnights for fairly obvious reasons.
