I am very happy filling up my 400G Elements drive and have tried it out OK on both the front and back USB slots..
However..I note in diagnostics that the Slot is always deemed to be 'empty'
and

as i remember a joke from my youth which had almost that wording..

Is not the "Slot" relating to the "Common Interface" Slot rather than the USB sockets?

Possibly but if that is so.. then does no one on the Forum use the slot at all?
If so what an example of '.Tween Cup and Lip'..
The Favs are an obvious example of wasted effort and resources... the Slot also seemingly

A few used to use it with a dragon cam and the old sky cards to get CH4 HD in non-freesat mode. It's there basically to support the use of the box as a generic free to air receiver

I use it for an official Mediaguard CAM and Canal Digitaal card for the FTV and subscription Dutch channels on 19.2º and 23.5º.
