What would you bring back for Series 6?

Now that we have seen the return of the Silurians / Homo Reptilia, it seems as good a time as any to ask what we think is deserving of a 21st Century makeover for Series 6, if anything.

Since 2005, we have seen the return of the Autons, Daleks, Cybermen, Macra, The Master, Sontarans and now the Silurians. But what would people like to see back next, or do you think that they should rely on new material?

As I wrote this, I suddenly thought that maybe the Autons could make an interesting reappearance. I imagine that Moffat could make them quite scary in a 2-parter during the middle of Series 6- maybe with a Tim Burton-esque love for contrasting colours and sickly yet effective set designs. Having never seen the old series due to a lack of being born, I was wandering if any of the other monsters are worth a makeover, or if they are best left where they were.

I want to swee the Zygons back, but I don't think they need a makeover. They're a classic design that still holds up well today. Also the Ice Warriors, though preferably without the shoeboxes on their feet.

The zygons seem like they are sceaming out for a Moffat story, and so do the Autons imo, as he could make them very scary.

How about the Celestial Toymaker? Was he ever any good? I imagine Moffat would be intrigued with a standalone story with this toymaker, seeing as he sees a huge emphasis on the younger audience

The Toymaker was an intriguing character let down by a crushingly boring plot.

I too would love to see a return of The Ice Warriors. They are well overdue for a return. Would also like to see The Meddling Monk back or The Rani.

I also think they shouldn't rely on old monsters too much, though, and continue on the mix of old and new. it seems to have worked each series so far.

As much as I liked the Silurian two parter, and completely understand they were a different branch of the species I did find their re-design very extreme to the point that they might as well have been a completely new monster.

So it makes me cautious about Moffat re-introducing any other classic era monsters if they are going to be so far removed from their original look. The reasoning for the Silurian's new look was so the actor had more expression through the make-up. Well surely that rule would be applied to something like the Zygons or Ice Warriors?

I'd actually like to see the Draconians return. They only appeared in Frontier in Space, but thought they had a cool look. Only thing is they aren't bad guys.

Also the Ogrons could be made to look pretty cool as a secondary baddie in a story.

The Zygons make-up allowed their facial expressions to show through...

True enough, mainly the mouth.

I'm just a bit precious about the Zygons and like the fact they did one story (my favourite btw). I'd kind of like them to remain a one story baddie.

if the Ice Warriors, do return I think it's an almost certainty that they will have to undergo a radical new design as the original boxy cumbersome look is now to outdated and cheap looking. The Zygons really wouldn't need much doing to them as the original design was already so good and would probably only need a few tweeks here and there.

The Zygons and Ice Warriors are my two choices for a return and I wouldn't have to many complaints if Syl, was brought back aswell.

I to would like to see the Ogrons, brought back however in this P.C crazy world we live in today I'm not sure you would be able to as there would almost inevitably be accusations of being racist.

Another vote for the Ogrons. Beyond being the daleks lapdogs I would like a return to their planet and the Ogron eater which has grown so large they need nuclear weapons to destroy it.

I also would like a return of the unnamed creature in the Keller Machine.

Was going to mention the Dracs and the Ogrons.

The Ogrons could be combined with a new villian who uses them as his personal army.

The Ogrons would work. They are a slave people - rather like gruard dogs and so could be put to use by numerous baddies not just the daleks.

I want a return to Ogros and the Ogron eater wihich has grown the size of a house and needs nuclear weapons to destroy it.

Other then that the unnamed alien in the Keller machine would be good. In a nasty part of planet earth lapping up the evil.

No brainer. The Ice Warriors. their design was fantastic for the time, though they looked much better in black and white than they did in the peladon stories. But given a 21st century tweak, they'll be superb

Of course they wouldn't - not unless you deliberately portrayed them as having an African-style culture or something.

On the contrary, it could be used as an interesting allegory for slave labour, or it could completely subvert that by giving them their own motivation that they're keeping hidden from their 'masters'.

We agree again, sir: the Zygon design is probably the one that holds up to the test of time - it would only need to be better fitted (always reminded me of foetuses with attitude) to the actors...oh and they had human eyes as well yet were clearly reptillian in some way
